All I can say is this...

I had a good idea how it worked before I purchased it, but when I received it and this 'Large thing' fell out the box I realised this was never going to be a impromptu effect, and as a result I never even got it out if its box...

To be honest, a spirit lamp is never going to be something you carry around as an impromptu item!

"Well it's funny you should say that as I just happen to have this spirit lamp here in my pocket!"

Indeed. Performing a Spirit Lamp as an impromptu piece would kind of rob the spectators of a powerful effect. It's far better to have a performance area set up and build up the atmosphere and ambience to do the effect so as to achieve it's maximum potential to freak out your spectators.

If you dont use the lamp very often, think about the 'thing' that fell out of the box and have a brain storm on how to best utilise that! I have an idea or two that I'm working on!

The Pocket version can be operated by that large thing (IB thread here we come) but it can also be operated by another well known item which can certainly be as impromptu as many other routines. Imagine taking the board, the bulb and the battery as separate items out of a bag, having the spec examine, assemble and test it then launching into the routine. How about out of doors, late one evening, perhaps in an area known for spirit events......

(no, not down the pub!)

I can imagine this really freaking people out. Does the bulb glow brightly or dim?

I believe you can ask for whatever bulbs you like. There are new, aged and I think dimpled bulbs.

I also have it on good authority that a pocket version is very soon to be available and that owners of the spirit lamp are set to get a very good deal indeed. Maybe that impromptu effect isn't too far away!! I'm certainly looking forward to that little beauty!

Hi Guys
Right ermm, don't know what to say really, this could never be, nor should be performed as an impromptu trick in my opinion anyway, with all the history and stories that are now behind the lamp it can and is used by many on a regular basis to do a full seance along of course with other effects.
FRK if you are not happy with the lamp, then you can return it to be and ill refund you in full, there are no bad feelings or problems with this at all.
On the pocket lamp status, this has been out since late 2010, it comes in various guises and there are more to come, there will be some more pictures on the site soon, that show all the various designs you can order, most have some beautifully heavy brass fittings and other embellishments that look great and thanks to some excellent feedback from some of our customers we are now offering the newer lamps with brass and copper plaques with stampings on (numbering 013) you can request anything to be stamped so long as it fits
There are also a couple of videos of the pocket lamp these are just to show what it looks like, more videos will be live within the next 14 days along with full details of all the extras you can order along with the pocket lamp, the pocket lamp also comes with a powerful gimmick but can be used in the hands with either the gimmick or a PK ring.

We will also have a high end model available for people interested and again this will be on the site too. Construction will be from a wood of your choice & fittings to suit. We also have had an excellent new label created for us by Mr C Gould he of Alchemy Moon fame! Which will appear on the newer lamps.

As Kobain pointed out, anyone that has bought the original lamp and wants the newer model or pocket version, I shall be offering a extremely good deal on the lamps alone (no gimmick provided as you have one already) and of course the document pack and PK'ed Pentagrams and Pk'ed Planchetts, I will post all details when I have them ready online for you to view everything, you can register your interest for the new lamps etc, via PM or Emailing me direct. I certainly don't want to turn this into an advert but I think it answers any questions that have come up here.

Last point I think, does the bulb glow dimly or bright? this all depends on how you use the gimmick, you can make it flicker on and off brightly and also allow it to dim slightly via the positioning of the gimmick, I cannot discuss this openly here, but there is the private forum for buyers of this trick where they can discuss it openly and freely. All lamps now have the dimpled bulbs for now. The story that goes behind the newer pocket lamp is on the website albeit unedited at present, I have also located the full original court hearing documents that have been converted to PDF for extra info, which ill send to anyone that is interested in them for an even stronger backstory.

If I missed anything please pick me up on it.

(mods feel free to edit if you feel any exposure has taken place that you find offensive, I am just trying to be as open as I can about the lamps)

Regards
Simon

Due out later in 2011 are Bella & Bedlam plus PK wooden rings

Now... My problem is not with the lamp, the problem is with me....

I never really wanted to do this impromptu, what I should have said was maybe spontaneously .

An example being in the family and friend setting, getting the Tarot cards out then moving on to the Spirit lamp and showing some creepy things etc., but unless I put the 'Large thing' in the toilet (ready for preparation) I can't see me being prepared for a spontaneous effect...

Am I making sense ?

Hi Frk
I see what you are saying, have you joined the forum for the lamp, it is where you can freely talk about the gimmick.
There are several solutions to what you may find a problem, I will not discuss it openly here out of respect of the other buyers of the lamp.
Drop me a PM or drop by the forum. I will help make this a lot easier for you.
Kindest regards
Simon
