Power wouldn't have to prove that he was genuine in order to win the case. He'd have to show that the production company had gone out of there way to present him as willfully fraudulent. I don't see how he can do that based on the edit and that he had and used his right to reply within the episode itself.

I find the whole fundamentalism thing really disturbing. It's as bad as any extremism in my opinion.

I once had the misfortune of hearing some verbal diaorrhea from one a few years ago who thought gay people were the spawn of evil. I was floored to hear this and other things I won't post here, from someone who should have known better...A middle aged, very well educated and supposedly intelligent, primary school teacher - who was also a Samaritan volunteer, no less. I was on duty with her one evening and I knew she was a devout christian, but this shocked me. I refused to work as a volunteer with her again.

Before anyone takes umbrage, I'm not saying all christians are like this, I know they aren't. But, it did put me right off ever joining up.

Oh, and Robbie, I have to ask....how do you know so much about Pokemon? Is that a sign of a misspent youth? :P

Anyway, sorry I went right off at a tangent there!

Youth? I'd already been married for a decade when the first Pokemon came out!

Actually, I've just been studying several books about game design, and Pokemon is mentioned pretty frequently. That's where I got the info about Satoishi's inspiration for the game. Combine that with a quick look at Wikipedia and Pokemon fan sites (thanks, Google!) and anybody can be an instant expert.

Bit off topic, but it's probably bad news starting the Fringe early. The boyf and I made the mistake of catching the start rather than the end of the festival, which meant sitting in the audience of good shows playing out to only seven or eight people. Little wonder that you do well to break even at Edinburgh.

QI is, as usual, right (along with being some of the best telly in years). Both the Security Service and Secret Intelligence Service use the term Officer.

However, they do have 'agents' too. These are generally informants and the like, not actually serving within the Service. They're 'ran' by at least two officers, one of which is their field officer and one a desk bunny.

The Telegraph ran a combined article about mediums and review of Joe Power over the weekend. The overall flavour can be described as polite, but not really convinced.

Comedian Michael Legge was thrown out of Power's show at the fringe. His immensely sweary and definitely NSFW blog entry about it is here: http://michaelleggesblog.blogspot.com/2010/08/power-cut.html

Very entertaining! Power definitely seems to be getting more and more aggressive towards his audience. Not a good career move.

Michael Legge wrote:As David Reed pointed out, talking to the dead is easy. Anyone can do it. It's when they talk back that it's impressive.

Actually, this idea goes back to Shakespeare, Henry IV Part I:
Glendower: I can call spirits from the vasty deep.
Hotspur: Why, so can I, or so can any man; But will they come when you do call for them?
