The Big August Bank Holiday Meet-up

Postby TheStoner » Sat Jul 31, 2010 2:02 pm

The next monthly magic/hypno meet-up is going to take place on Bank Holiday Monday 30th August. We've gone for a bank hol so that people who can't make the usual Wednesday meets will be able to come along.

It will be held in and around the Nag's Head pub in Covent Garden, just outside CovGdn tube, from 1pm until very late in the evening.

Every is welcome to join us - just come along and say hello. It's a large friendly group and you'll have a great time, see some amazing magic, learn new things and it won't cost you a penny (apart from food/beer).

If we're not around in late afternoon we've probably gone to take over the nearby TGI Friday for a while - magic and burgers, hmmm, tasty!

In the past we've been joined by various big names such as Michael Vincent, James Brown, Lee Smith, Gary Jones, Paul Gordon, Ian Rowland and more. If you haven't been to one of these meets before then come along and see what you've been missing - a great day is guaranteed.

I am hoping me and the missus can join you on the monday.
We were planning a week/weekend in cornwall, but I cannot resist my first meet with you guys.
All depends on cost and how we are going to get down there.

(Anyone coming from the midlands area?)

Who's coming from TM then? I think this is going to be a big one looking at the group page and the feed back.

Would be good to see some new faces there.

Wow!! What a meeting! Went all the way there, and no one was in the Nag's head, walked all way round Covent garden for a few hours to try and spot anyone...found no one.
Obviously checked on here several times to see if anyone has updated this thread to say where you'd gone to (assuming ANYONE turned up), and there was no update. In the days where everyone has the net on their phone, I find this pretty weird.

What a waste of a day!

I could not attend today, but I know lots of people went as they rang me to see if I was going, I am sure someone will explain?

We went to the Nags Head, and we were informed by the management that due to the local council getting on his back about him not having an entertainments licence, that we would not be allowed to perform any magic at all within the premises, and in fact, a couple of fella's outside doing some rubber band stuff were asked to move along by a barmaid.

For that reason, we were also around the corner in another establishment (which will remain nameless so monkeyboy can't try to get them shut down too,) who happily let us abuse bikes, half dollars, and stick customers hands to tables.

The manager at the Nags Head has promised to keep us informed of any future developments with the situation as he is fighting the ruling as he loves having us in there.

Fair enough, but it would have been nice if someone (out of the many people I'm sure had WAP enabled phones etc) would have updated the site.

I went all the way to Covent garden for NO other reason than to meet you guys, and basically wasted my day!

We were in the nags head for quite some time waiting for people to show up before moving on, we just weren't doing any magic.
