Hi guys, thought I better introduce myself. I'm not a
magician but I'm interested in learning some good basic tricks. I run my own animal science and handling business which I have been doing for 10 years. In that time I have seen thousands of kids and adults of all ages about the animals I keep. I do movement based workshops and also story based for younger years but want to include some magic. I understand most people on here frown at animal magic but I'm not looking to put animals in harm etc. I have been keeping and breeding exotics for over 18 years and understand the needs required to look after them correctly. Idealy I'd like to add in a few 2or 3 tricks. Not needing to have real animals but would be good if animal related. I love doing stories with foundation and keystage 1 and this may be all I aim magic at. As halloweens comming up it would be excellent to make something vanish - something like a vanishing box cat carrier size would be excellent. Or some kind of water act so I could say we need water for them to drink but I forgot to bring some and then magic some up instead? I've been thinking about a dove pan and cake as I use to do a Halloween story and get them to pretend
to make one(cake that is) using items like a cat of cat food, box of crickets etc...
I'm sure there are other things I could bring in - especialy if anyone has some sujestions? Can you use a dove pan the other way around to make something vanish? I'm planning on oing to visit a magic shop in Newcastle
to see about obtaining some equipment but no days off for 2 weeks.
Anyway hope people won't mind me posting and asking questions and most likely asking for help.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Cheers Sheprendo,
I've ordered a few books today including mark wilsons with the DVD off amazon. Looking forward to it comming later in the week. I had an easy day today an hour of habitats for about 30 kids and
thier parents. Not the kind of talk I could have included
magic in but my minds still working overtime on ideas, sketches etc when I can add a few bits in here and there. Hoping the books will give me what I need. Also contacted the Middlesbrough C of M and will see if
I can get into their prep group.find I love working with kids and what better way of getting there attention than some magic! Busy day tomorrow but can't sleep!
