This latest special from the bearded one has been kept pretty quiet but the trailers are starting to run on Channel 4.

Oh dear. I hope Harris won't be annoyed...

They just put up another longer video, gives a LOT more away, it's on his blog channel. I won't spoil it by saying what it is, just a heads up... But he is still just supposed to be a magician right?

Does look more like 'Derren Brown life coach'. But still intrigued, as long as it shows more of Derrens showmanship side.

Interesting, I got a whole differrent feel from the trailer. I'm expecting something Heistesque. To be honest, I'm not overly concerned what it is exactly, so long as it's more of a return to what he does best after last year's rather disappointing TV output.

My girlfriend has picked half hour into the show to be picked up from the airport an hour away...argh! I wont even be able to watch it on +1 now.
Let's hope it is On Demand.

Surely the guy who applied is going to know that he is has been picked when he sees the trailer and has a plane trip booked on Wednesday

Who's saying that the person knows they are going to be on the plane, untill it happens?
I also got that 'Heist' feel about it at first.
I wonder too if the plane is actually going to be at '30,000 feet'. Or if it's just going to be a simulation or something like that.

The people involved have gone through a 'Secret Selection' progress, so I think they are fairly sure its them, they just don't know when it's going to happen.
It also apparently contains pre-recorded segments similar to the events.
On a side note it would be good to see derren get attention without resorting to controversy, a plane crash effect the day before 9/11... come on.

If its meant to be a suprise to them how has Derren stopped the applicants from seeing the advert?

Derren Brown: Hero at 30,000 Feet
Wednesday 08 September
10:00pm - 11:15pm
Channel 4
We confess: RT's powers of persuasion weren't enough to coax even a dribble of information from Channel 4 on the illusionist's latest two-stunt special (one tonight and one in just over a month's time). For maximum impact, we suppose, his eye-widening feats are usually kept top secret until the very last minute. Looking back, it's hard to imagine what there is left for him to do. He staged a séance with students in 2004, a heist in 2006 and last year demonstrated how to beat a casino (allegedly Brown is banned from all UK casinos). But his most stomach-inmouth stunt was back in 2003, when he played Russian roulette in a bunker. It's been a while, so perhaps he'll plump for another televised dice with death.
I'd love to know who makes that casino banning allegation. Probably the same people who say he uses NLP for everything, which in itself is a massive assumption
