I've been looking into getting some silks, but I'm confused as to the difference between the normal 'magicians' silks and the Slydini silks (other than the price!).

Can you perform a Slydini type routine with the cheaper silks, or do you need the Slydini silks?

Given the right size and feel, yes. However it is a little more difficult, the slydini silks are stronger than the standard 5 mum silk that magi use. Also there is a slippery-ness to the slydini silks that aid in the achievement of the routine.

Not sure if slippery-ness is what I am trying to say, the silks do aid in the routine.

Also when you purchase a set of Slydini Silks from a reputable dealer, what you will normally get is a set of white silks, one of which has some yellow thread sewin into the hem. It's not visible from a few feet away, but in your hands it enables you to easily see within a gnat's heartbeat exactly which two bits you need to be "tightening" during the routine.
