magic circle dealers day 2010

Postby daleshrimpton » Oct 30th, '10, 23:20

Today i visited the magic circle dealers day. Its always worth going to this event, because its great to have the chance to see what is available, without the distractions of shows and lectures that one or more day conventions offer. And whilst its true to say that this year swas smaller than in the past, its still a good day out.

Of the items on offer, the visual highlight had to be David Jay demonstrating his incredible sleve star technique. Quite extraodinary things happen in this routine, and its clear that he has taken this art to another level.
I also enjoyed chatting with Costas at Magic Tao. He has some nice new items comming up in the future. I very much like his latest release the traveling deck, in which a deck of cards is removed from its box, it is held for a second, and then vanishes, save one single card.
The Gimmick offers a number of facinating possibilities for rhe table magician, more on this item to come...

Paul Gordon seemed to be doing a reasonable trade on his stand, with some great card effects , International Magic had dvds, and information on the upcomming days of magic.. great line up!!
Stephen Tucker, one of the true great magic demmers,( does he ever stop?) has a very nice rising card, and his great wow wallet, plust tons of other good strong practical close up, Kieth Bennets range of fine coins and cards was as good as ever, Wayne Dobson had a good display, as did mike Danata, alakazam, alan astra,Merlins, Andy Gladwin’s Vanishing inc, and Kaymar.
I partook of a few items.
Geroge Kovari, can always be relied on to supply something different. His magic is well made, and guarenteed quality. His new chinese stick has to be seen to be believed.
I bought from him, his Polo deck, an interesting idea, and one which Pat Page raved about. Its basicaly a deck of cards with a hole right through its centre. With it you can perform some great magic.
I also bought his steel chain through arm “ please release me” Its perfect for burlesque, because its kinky, but not too kinky.
I bought Stephen Tuckers excelent book on th emagic of Bob Ostin.. out a couple of year sago, its well worth investing in!
And i treated myself to Big Blind Medias excelent 5 dvd for 20 quid offer. I mean, its such a bargain isnt it? How can i resist.. And ive time on my hands at the moment.

So, all in all a good day, full of catching up with old friends, and bumping into new.
If you are in town next year, pop in.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....
