Broken Wand - Karl Bravoski

Postby Mandrake » Dec 4th, '10, 14:18

I just had a message from Lord Freddie saying that Karl Bravoski had passed away. Whilst he certainly stirred a few heated debates here, it's always sad when such an individual dies. Freddie's message is:

I recently found out that magician, inventor of effects and all-round crazy chap, Karl Bravosky is now posting on that great forum in the sky. As many of the older members would recall, Karl made quite an impact on Talk Magic and various forums with his often unintelligible posts and bizarre items he would attempt to sell. He and I developed quite a bit of banter between us which amused many.

I became Karl's friend on Facebook after he had baffled and been expelled from practically every forum he joined. The banter continued and Karl was a charmingly eccentric fellow who asked me to be his European manager. He wanted me to approach Channel 4 and offer them a magic special featuring the unique talents of Karl. I offered to attempt this but could promise nothing. Karl wanted to do a publicity stunt to promote himself where he climbed to the top of a high building and levitated between this and then nearest building. I suggested Canary Wharf. Karl was well up for it.

During the Summer of this year, Karl went very quiet and I received a message from a lady claiming to be his assistant, telling those that Karl regularly chatted with on Facebook that he had been admitted to hospital following a massive heart attack. She said she would keep up posted. I asked her to pass on my best wishes. She said that Karl had made a recovery and was at home resting. Then nothing.

Karls usual activity and crazy messages came to a halt. I saw Wagner on X-Factor and thought he had taken a dramatic turn of career and name change. I sent him messages. No response. The one day, another magician posted on his wall "RIP Mr Karl".

After doing a bit of research (there is little about him on the web) I found another forum he occasionally frequented and it was stated that Karl was found dead at his home ten days after leaving hospital.

A genuine, on-off eccentric character. Rest In Peace Mr Karl.
Freddie
