I have just started doing this having sussed the method for my self.

I got three for £1.00, which means the spectator can now choose one of three books!!!!

It is overpriced, but as others say its the idea you are paying for which i would say is well worth it if you don't know how its done.

Even knowing how it is done I thought £10 was a very fair price for this item. I have included it in my show and am very pleased with the reactions that it gets. I feel I have made my money back many times over.

I find no need to give the audience a choice of books. I work this effect with the Complete Works of William Shakespeare - a very large book that most people are familiar with.

Hats off to N.E. for a fantastic effect.

I use this all the time and it always gets great reactions (as does spooked). Well worth getting.

Just a few questions before I buy this.

1. Is the book ruined after you have used it?

2. Is the gimmick easily gotten rid off?

3. Can you use any book?

1. No, especially if you are careful how you use the gimmick

2. There's no need to get rid of anything...if done right its completely undetectable...

3. Yes, within reason, any with a dust-jacket and preferably a dark hard bounding...

You know...the more I think about it, this is a fantastic book test concept.

Ok it's technically not clean but for me (an impromptu performer) this is the one book test I have used over and over with stunning results.

Don't discount this because of its simplicity...it is VERY powerful. What's more it is a extremely helpful mentalism utility (not only as a book test) to just have lying innocently around the home, office or in school.

...i love it, i took round my copy of 13 steps to a friend of mine whose just started off in magic and said to him, "ive read this book so many times i know every single word by now..."

...and lo and behold, i told him the page number and the word he picked...

its such a sneaky method...plus i use Changin' Glue to do the necessary too...more adaptable...

If you are buying this for the first time you may be interested to know that it now comes with a DVD (from JB Magic). Although i have not seen the DVD i know that Mark Mason always includes great tips with his DVDs. You can use the gimmick to get pre-show information. You will use this all the time when you buy it.
