Toyday also sell their wares through Amazon, so if you've already got an account there (who hasn't?) it'll save you a bit of time filling in the Toyday registration pages...

Thanks for that, both of you. I have at least been reminded what the things are called so can look around a bit; I'd like some slightly larger ones if poss.

This one has worked well for me in performances. However, the one aspect of it that I don't really like is when the participant writes their chosen word.

As much as I like this book test (and I like it quite a lot), I don't think anything comes close to Jon Thompson's (Tomo's) Naked Book Test. Seriously, anyone interested in book tests should put the work into learning it. You will then have a miracle on your hands, even when you don't get a direct hit.

In terms of writing their chosen word, I make this seem natural by saying "I want you to write it nice and clearly so that you can show everyone else the word you picked". Of course this only works in a group situation.

Even one-to-one, by making sure I write my prediction down then swapping papers (rather than just saying "Your word is...") it still seems like a natural process.

I'm with you there, Tim. It's just the way in that's it written that gets me concerned.

I need to put more time into getting the Tomo Book Test down, for sure.

I just stick a post-it note on the back cover and tell them to write it there, nice and clear, and I try to use a biro not a sharpie for obvious (I think) reasons. It doesn't seem to arouse suspicion.

you can in fact get speech bubble shaped post-it notes..i use those...visually it looks quite nice, and the whole thought-reading thing ties in...
