How Much: $5.95

What You Get:
Two Movies. The first is 2 min 54 seconds long, and spends most of the first two minutes demonstrating the pass from various angles. The second is 3 min 12 seconds long and shows Dan performing the move as part of an ambitious card routine that culminates with a very nice card to wallet. In fact there are two separate performances on the second movie.

The Review:
For those that don’t know, the Cover pass is a version of the pass that keeps the top card in place. That is to say the card that is buried in the deck is invisibly positioned second from the top. You can imagine how useful this is for an ambitious card routine.

I would have preferred a pdf document to have been included with this download. There is a long suffering debate on whether people prefer learning from a movie or from a book, and one of the nicest things I have found with Dan’s downloads is that the majority of the ones I own include both formats, truly making it the best of both worlds. In fact this is just one of the reasons that I think Dan’s downloads are normally such great value for money.

It’s a very nice bonus that he has included a performance movie. I love watching Dan’s live performance clips as it just reiterates that he is a successful working magician, and shows how powerful the lesson he is teaching actually is.

As mentioned before, the first two minutes of the lesson movie is taken up with demonstrating the move in action from various angles. Conversely there was less than a minute of Dan actually showing the move in close up detail whilst he talks you through the salient points.

At first this bugged me a little bit, but then I decided that I was being irrational as being a movie file, I can play it back, frame at a time as often as I wish, and it was actually nice seeing it performed at speed from so many different angles.

Bottom Line
On the downside, it’s one move that is explained in less than 60 seconds. It’s a move that is already found in numerous books, and on numerous DVD’s and videos. It doesn’t contain a printable manuscript.

On the plus side it is very cheap. It is clear and concise, and it demonstrates how powerful it can be as it is seen being used in two live situations.

If you wish to learn this sleight, then I have no hesitation recommending that you download this lesson. It’s a move that will prove very useful in your arsenal of sleights.

I also received this and to be honest theres not a lot more that i can say EXCEPT I'm the opposite of Bananafish in that I find it easier to pick things up by watching video. I actually knew a slightly different handling of the coverpass where the top card was readied BEFORE the actual pass was done BUT in Dans version the top card is readied AS the pass is being done which although a little fiddlier to pull off is in my opinion a better way of doing it.

So to sum up....
the angles the video was shot at were excellent as was the actual move itself BUT there could have been a little more in the way of explanation as the video pretty much relies on you knowing the classic pass but it can be learned by watching the video over and over

And so this receives a stonking great 8/10 from me so all you knucklebusting card men out there who dont know it should just go and get it!

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..
