Was wondering what you guys thought of the new seris of Monkey Magic on TV at the momment.
Personally I dont like it very much, I didn't like the first seris much either. I thought it was lame when they had to come up with a trick in the dark etc..I much prefer Max Magic even when I know how the tricks are done at least watching their patter is intresting and Max(especially as the pet shop guy) is very funny IMHO.
So what do you guys think?

any magic on telly is good magic but i know what you meen the first series was amaturish and the magic performed basic.
the second serise fairs better in the magic performance but not style of programe I meen tricks in the dark why not in a red hat or a large overcoat or greeen strippy jumper.

interesting side note the blond guy realy likes his coin tricks dos'nt he, the question is is he useing a butter coin or flipper or something else ?.
the coins are nice and shiny and I could not tell what type they were, nice presentattion of coin through table you'd have to admit.

18 views and only one person has an opinion on the program, well its on again tonight aswell as some other magic unmasked program on sky, maybe somewill else will comment later on then.
Also a point to note may be that these are the places where people get to give feedback about these programmes to make them better next time around.

A common misconceptions on forums is that a post with plenty of views and no posts or replies can be taken as a 'rejection'...

Not the case.

Possibly more to the point is that most people reading the post were too embarrassed to report that Monkey Magic is absolute drivel. It's comedy value stops at the opening credits, and although I find the program to be an enriching experience in as much as I've always LONGED for that old 'magic' gem of pulling a talking green bogey from one's nose and eating it to make mainstream.

Well, two episodes have now flown by. And I certainly won't be bothering with next week's show. The show has moved from the rather innovative approach taken by the first series to a more 'in your face' and ridiculing montage of sketches which seem to prey on Pete McCahon's gut and Pete Firman's 'stoopid northen-ness'.

The only saving grace in the series is Alistair Cook... the super-cool and very talented 'monkey boy'—who could actually pull off the entire show single handedly and to a better level of enjoyment.

Then again, anyone remember Andrew O'Connor's roots in madcap children's TV?

I was implying that because you made a negative review, you felt that NO REPLIES means that people rejected or disagreed.

It happens to me all the time

Or in my case I couldn't comment cos I'd never got around to watching it. Still somehow I still got to comment.

Its ok I am feeling better now, the other programme on last night was ok( the magic unmasked one) I have seen programmes similar but it was ok seeing Lance Burton doing some stuff,not to keen on Chris Angel though( to many men running about in lycra!)
Any way I recorded Monkey Magic, what a load of rubbish, you are right that Monkey Boy is good, I will not comment on the others as they probably know more magic than me. I just think the way the program is presented stinks. I dont see what they are trying to achieve , they oviously want to get rid of the traditional image of a Magi, but that has been done already ( lots), and I think they want us to think they are a bunch of nutty zani guys, if I want that I will watch Jackass TV and they are definatly not funny IMHO( the monkey magic team). So what does that leave? well the just the magic I guess, well lets see, bloke in a phone box in a straight jacket, bogey from a nose, tea from an arm pit, swollowing a ballon and a couple of others, the only good trick was mokey boys slight of hand with the coins as it was the only display of skill on the entire program. So all in all a pretty poor effort.
Some people might say that any Magic on TV is good, I disagree as this makes Magi's look like a joke and just enforces the geeky image further. People might also say ,well why dont you get on TV and do a good magic show, well the truth is although I could blag my way out of anything my skills dont match my patter, so I know my place and that is the same place that Monkey Magic show should be and that is " outa sight outa mind" lets hope they are not filming another seris.

I didn't catch last nights show had to work but I still have the same question concerning monkey boy's erm slieght of hand skill, just out of professional curiosity as I'm going to invest in this special coin erm slieght.
so which do you think he uses a flipper, a flapper, butter coin or something else, maybey I should post a new thread.?

Sorry havent got a clue, I am not really in to coin magic,( but I like watching it ) all I have in that department is coin unique and I never use that. So I couldn't tell wheather it flips or flaps

I'll be honest here abd say that I actually thoroughly enjoy the Monkey Magic show. Maybe it's just because we seem to be so starved of any form of magic n TV (I don't have sky or digital btw).

I do admit though that I by far prefer the magic and skill of Monkey boy (Alistair Cooke), but that isn't to say I don't find the other three entertaining (At times at least).

I didn't see all of last nights how, but I did enjoy the previous weeks, and especially liked Cookes "Duelling Magicians" effects. Last weeks was his mentalism in the dark routine (which funnily enough looked a little like coincimental/alpha mind, and effect we had been discussing - how spooky was that), and this weeks effect with the bubble gum and ring.

Actually even Pete Firman's Pizza trick I thought was very good, and usually I find him the weakest of the lot.

I say - roll on Monkey Magic. Let's see more people appear in Pete McCahon's pants...

Monkey Magic rocks.

I love it. It's a bit quirky, it's entertaining and doesn't take the magic side of things too seriously. Prime example is the old "vanishing biscuit" using magic dust. Brilliant. A lovely little comedy interlude in the middle of, let's be honest, some brilliantly performed magic. I saw it, laughed out loud for a good couple minutes, then proceeded to show my mum how I could vanish a biscuit - granted, I had to vacuum after, but no skin off my nose for the sake of a bit of magic dust.

The secrets revealed bit where they showed how the heat was turned up while a tea bag was under Tufty's arm... again brilliant.

It's all feel-good, slap a smile on yer face entertainment. And, even if you don't like it, it gives us a bit more exposure and makes magic cool(er).

For me Monkey magic is a breath of fresh air. It is great to see some UK magic back on tv. Well done guys.

There has been loads of UK Magic of TV recently, Max Magic, Derren Brown+ all the Yank stuff thats on now and then. Also some other UK Street type Magic shows are due to come out soon.

I am not a great fan of Derren Brown, and to be honest I have never seen Max Magic, could someone post when its on so I can set my vid. Cheers Steve.
