If you weren’t there, you missed a great day!
No idea of attendance numbers but the Dealer Hall had a good circulation of interested customers, hopefully all spending their hard earned cash. The lectures were excellent, David Jones had the honour of being first ‘on stage’ at 10am and his tips and advice were well worth knowing. Subtleties and bits of knowledge garnered over many years of performing meant we all learned something new.
Paul Gordon presented a very enjoyable lecture, again peppered with wry observations and tips which made every effect far more magical than just a routine, the 1.1/2 hours (plus a few extra minutes!) just seemed to fly by.
Michael Vincent trod a different path, instead of the traditional show and tell lecture, he offered his new ‘The Craft of Magic’ event which was a two way process, the audience sharing thoughts and ideas as well as receiving them. Michael performed several card miracles and it’s easy to see why he’s such a top man in magic.
Marc Oberon presented the final lecture of the day and covered many of his well loved routines and effects with plenty of emphasis on multiple outs which didn’t seem like outs – star quality stuff indeed. I didn’t get chance to count the numbers attending but, at a guess, I’d say at least 50 for each lecture, possibly more.
Ollie Mealing also presented several workshops out in the Dealer Room.
Among the Dealers it was good to see TMers Paul Voodini and Magic Tao doing their bit to part us from our cash along with another 20 dealers plus, of course, the organisers Warped Magic. One excellent feature was a raffle in aid of the Acorns charity with prizes donated by the various Dealers – I’m very glad to report that I won one of the prizes!
All in all, a most excellent first Midlands Magic Day and certainly a compelling reason for there to be another one ...... over to you guys
