Floating Cigarette + alternative for kids and non smokers

Postby maRk tHE mAGicK » Sep 27th, '04, 03:51

Hi everyone,

Short review... for Steve Fearson's Original Floating Cigarette Routine
available from www.downloadmagic.com

Price approx £10 *** (see bottom of page) PDF file, Adobe acrobat required www.adobe.com

What can I say, for me it is fantastic!!!! I first practised, and thought people might get it, but then I performed it to, over 20 people. They were gobsmacked!!! Really powerful magic at its best!!

The Effect,

You have a lit cigarette. You say to your audience, watch this! The cigarette is placed in your hand, your other hand is then on top, slowly the lit cigarette starts floating from your hand, it moves slowly and gracefully around you, your hands are away from the cigarette, moving up and down left to right even above BOTH your hands. With the smoke pouring from the cigarette, it really looks soooo eerie.

Then someone might say, yeah yeah, wheres the string mate?! To which you pass the cigarette clearly through a loop made with your hands. Finally, the cigarette flys up, and lands in your mouth (the proper way round of course) and you can hand the cigarette for inspection too, but they can see its real as your smoking it (or you can let someone else smoke)

My Rating 5 out of 5.

This is not a completly impromtu trick, although of course you can make it seem like it.

I have made a small clip of myself doing the trick, and I also have the demo clip of Steve Fearson doing it. If anybody would like this small clip sent through MSN or Yahoo messengers, please PM me.

***This trick seems expensive and you need other things to make it work, (minimal cost) but you also get "the source" free with the download. I really recommend it, and there are other ideas for non-smokers or kids.

Mark :)

Note - Mark the Magick does not encourage smoking, do not start smoking just to do this trick and blame me

Hi Mark. Nice review. If I was a smoker I probably would consider this, but as I am not - I instantly dismissed it.

It always amazes me how much good Magic has been potentially lost just because there is now such a stigma against smoking. I was reading through the wonderful book "Scarnes Magic Tricks" the other day and it seemed like half the effects involved cigarettes...

Hi

The Fearson hookup can be used with candy to the same effect.

I'm a huge fan of Fearson's floating cig, but also strongly recommend LeClair's 'Who's Afraid Of IT?' DVD. This demonstrates different hook-ups and illusions. I use both techniques and the reactions are amazing.

Note that both of the above are based on IT only.If you use an ITR (which I don't), then you may be best looking elsewhere, although some of LeClairs techniques can be used with an ITR.
