The ones i always have with me "A bicycle built for 5" and "NFW".
Both killer effects, and dont take too much effort

I would have to say above all else "Twisted Sisters" and "Double Back". If pushed for one it would be "Twisted Sisters", for no other reason than the reactions.

It also works nicely as a card trick, or a mentalism effect (at a push).

Probably Alex Elmsley's "Four Card Trick". It's got several surprises, a story that makes sense and a great finish. Plus, unlike another favourite of mine, "NFW", it resets extremely quickly. Also, there are no gimmicks involved at all, just four cards.

Gotta agree with Twisted Sister, I'm racking my brains trying to thing of something better, but so far I can't think of one.

I agree with Twisted Sisters, and would add 8-card Brainwave and Shinkansen.

If a packet trick is defined as one using only a few cards then my favourite would be the original Three Card Monte (with ungimmicked cards). Although it is not usually thought of as a packet trick.

I'd say that am ungaffed "3 card monte" can almost definitely be described as a packet effect. As can 8 card brainwave, twisting the aces and Dr Daleys's last trick.

IMO I think the term "Packet effect" or even "Small Packet effect" can apply to any card effect that uses a relatively small number of cards.

I still absolutely love The Color Monte and probably Double back. Both play well and have great kicker endings!!

Thank goodness somebody else has mentioned Double Back at last! It's at the top of my list as method 2 is easy to do so all the concentration can go into the presentation.

I enjoy the Michael Skinner gaffed version of Three Card Monte.

For me..

NFW

Why ?

Because the reactions are just great and this alone means you can almost get away with murder (well not literally you understand).

Also, having spent months perfecting my count it's one I can actually do confidently.

Slippery.
