Just started watching the Darly Encyclopedia Card Sleights Vol 5.

Gotta say was impressed by the 4 queens placed within the deck & then restored to the top effect.
Was not impressed with the explanation.

1. When your pushing 4 cards through the deck they push along a wedge of other cards as well, causing chaos.
2. When you do have the cards in the right position how the hell do you strip them out with the cut.

If the other tricks on this video are as poorly explained I won't be sticking with this one.

I think my all time favourite would be Derren Brown's "The Devils Picture Book", but there are so so many good ones...

Kenton Knepper's "Klose-Up and Unpublished" video is fantastic. I fear it's no longer produced, but this features what I regard as one of the best sponge ball routines ever, a fantastic torn and restored card trick (well, two, but one's not really my cup of tea, although it is pretty amazing) and a superb deck-changing routine where the deck is shown to consist of all the same card, shrinks and has the backs change colour. There's some other stuff in there, but those are the three I really liked.

I must get hold of a copy of "The Devil's Picturebook", but I've been putting it off, as there were rumours of it coming out on DVD.

which ones not your cup of tea one or two? I only ask, because if Kenton re- publishes it, he will be printing a different handling and a routine or two that i came up with. It adds logic to th eeffect, and, the card is handed out at the end !
I might share it with you if you ask nice. :D

It's the second one. It's really the very final bit I don't like. It's sort of makes sense, but just doesn't suit me.

However, I think you are probably talking about the first effect.

Either way, I'd be delighted if you'd share your thoughts and suggestions.

Personally, I think Kenton is one of the greatest thinkers in modern magic and I love his stuff. A fair bit of it doesn't suit my style, but I admire his originality. As to the effects of his which do suit me, they are brilliant.

Richard Osterland Mind Mysteries 1 & 2. 3 & 4 are good, but 1 & 2 are awesome.

Here's one you don't hear about much, but I like the Don Alan video put out by Stevens' Magic. It has just been converted to DVD. Don was the most entertaining magician I have ever seen.

Osterlind set for me as well along wiith 'Get Nyman'. However, this could all change when Marc Spelmann's DVDs come out anytime now featuring, ofcourse, the very handsome bananafish and myself lending him a helping hand in a few of the routines!!

For me..

Daryl's Ambitious Card..

I just love the way he presents this and the way it all flows together. Funny but flawless.

Plus there are just so many different variations put forward.. it'll take me years just to get half of them mastered.

Oz Pearlman's born to perform.
Four great effects, well presented, likeable chap (although Brad Christian does similar stuff, I am not so keen on his presentation), and some neat sleights to boot.
Great DVD
