In case you didnt know, ellusionist is working on a full range of black deck gear, including gaff cards (double backs etc) tally ho viper decks, and a tiger mini deck.

You can get materials to apply the Ted Lesley or Boris Wild systems yourself.

I should point out that my comment about marking materials related to the black Bicycle deck, not the Black Tiger ones.

I think Paula's right (to a degree) about the latter. I think it should be reserved for special effects or manipulation, not just an "ordinary deck", as they look unusual.

However, I should point out that if you want to mark a Black Tiger Deck, it's really not that hard and you probably already own a suitable tool for the job.

With the black decks and spectators thinking "gaffe," I've noted about a 50/50 split between magicians with this problem. Half of those that I've noted talking don't have any problem using them as a regular deck and the other half are terribly dissapointed by the fact that they are immediatley suspected of using a gaffed deck by their spectators.

I'm thinking it must be a presentational problem and not the deck itself...Then again, maybe I'm just crazy.

Fact is, the decks haven't caught on here in the states yet and I'm apprehensive to pay 7 dollars to get one myself.

The fact that the public may consider the black deck as 'rigged' in some way is a challenge for any magician - but as Michael says, surely just a presentational issue... Is the issue of (mis)trust not a common occurence in the spectator-magician relationship, even without these cards? Think of all the stories that go with using a chinese coin, or even sponge balls etc. Don't see it as a negative, consider it a useful opportunity to gain your audiences trust, or at the very least a chance to be creative.

Michael you said that the black decks haven't taken off in your part of the world - how about becoming the trend-setter...? These cards could set you aside from other magicians and make you stand out. Anything that differentiates one magician from another is surely a good thing for everybody...

Just thought I'd put a positive spin on things...

I have to admit, Zack, I am intrigued by the idea...I've never considered myself a trendsetter, though!
