I have to say, I really like this. The problems previously mentioned are correct, but if you can live with not using a full deck for one of your effects then there is some excellent magic possible with Tool.
My personal favourites being the card to case and the t&r effect. If you have one, or at the most two, effects in your set that involve tapping the deck with the card case then you will not arouse suspicion if there are plenty of other things in between but I wouldn't use it relentlessly!
It certainly gets your imagination going. I have had some gaff cards which I had been at a loose end with but this has inspired me to use them in ways I hadn't previously thought of.

I really like Tool, but it is disappointing that it wont fit a full pack.
Would be much better if they made a bigger box.
I don't think I'll get much use out of this just yet, as I have Redemption and I can't seem to put it down.

What I would like to know is whether or not the people complaining about it's dubious nature have actually used it.I do the T&R effect all the time.It kills.I haven't seen anyone from the audience even look at the box afterwards. They are so fixated on the cards.Never have I been asked could they examine it.

The problem is with magicians is paralysis with over analysis.JUST DO IT.

Dont think about all this ''justification'',''routining'' rubbish.Just go out there and do it.No one suspects the cardboard box

I must admit I haven't actually used it, but then I'm not a professional.
I merely perform a little magic for my customers.
I'm not complaining about it, I just think its a little bit disappointing it wont fit a full pack thats all.
I do agree with your comments about paralysis and over analysis, I definitely suffer from this condition.
When/if I give redemption a rest I'm going to give Tool a whirl.

Bedroom magicians don't like it. Performers do. That says a lot!

I used the T&R in my show and one person said, an hour later whilst still carrying the signed card, "I was thinking there may have been a duplicate but I signed the card, I can only come to the conclusion you put it back together...somehow...this IS a trick, right?...I don't understand how this can be possible!!!"

As for the partial deck, I have a Tool deck set up and an identical deck of full bikes. I put the cards away do, do some non card stuff then bring out the tool deck. No one thinks it's anything other than the deck they saw a few minutes beforehand (which they handled).

I have Redemption and was wondering if i should purchase Tool as well?
Do they offer different effects or pretty much the same?

Thanks

Tool is better in my oppinion. You can show the tool gimmick whereas you can only briefly flash it with redemption.I think there is more possibilities with Tool and you do not need to bring a gimmick into the deck. The tool gimmick is self contained and just sits on your card box.You might as well bring it out if you have a deck on you anyways.

Lord Freddie when you do the T&R do you sign the face card like David Stone does.I just let them sign the back and then rip it up.

Not necessarily true m'Lord.

I've used it in a show ans yes, the specs love it so I can't moan on that front but my comments made are from my own perspective.

I'll have to watch the DVD again. I gave it a spin and thought that there was only one effect on it. From reading the posts this appears not to be the case.

Not sure which routine you have used, but I have been using 'Knife' and it works very well and completely conceals any possible issues with tapping cards with card box. I think this routine is worth the price of the DVD/gimmick alone.

I think there's 11 routines and three bonuses on the disc, but as mentioned earlier in the thread the disc is apallingly mastered in its menu system. Took me two or three attempts to move on from the first demo.

.... agreed 100%.

When I first started playing the DVD, I initially found it so tricky to negotiate from one trick to the next, that I thought that it MUST have been a pirate DVD. Anyway, once you suss out how it all works - the content on the DVD more than makes up for the initial headache :)

I do sign the face like DS does. This alone has been getting great responses and not once has anyone wanted to look at the card case. The complete focus is on the card itself. Often with signed card effects the spectators aren't that bothered about keeping it afterwards, but with this, they are and they really scrutinise it! I am happy with Tool, I just hope Mr Stone brings out some refills as the gimmicks won'r last forever (and I'm cr@p at arts and crafts!). I emailed him asking if there was any but received no reply.
This gimmick does get your brain working which is always a good thing.
