Paul Gordon's 2 DVD Set

Postby CArlight1958 » Jul 11th, '11, 14:04

I'm pretty much just out of the starting blocks as far as magic goes.

Having said that. Years of playing the guitar (Finger style) I am sure have helped me to get to grips with some of the card slights a little quicker. Along with a lot of practice.

My 1st purchase was "Royal Road" followed by "Gerry Griffin's Card Magic"
Both of which I found to be very helpful in beginning what is a very long learning process.

I recently contacted Mr Paul Gordon via his website, & decided to buy.
"Card Startlers & Corner Of Piccadilly" both had been recommended by a fellow member.
I placed my order on the Tuesday morning, & they both arrived the following day.
I must say, that Paul's pace is a little quicker, but after a few rewinds on the remote, I now have several more good card tricks up my sleeve. Still quite a long way to go with these 2 dvds, but I am enjoying every minute of it. All the tricks are very visual, & of the three I have now mastered, & performed to friends, & family, they have managed to get me that WOW factor. None of the tricks are over complicated, (though they seem so to the on looker) & Paul explains them very well.
All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase, & can highly recommend them as a tool to add more magic to your bow.

Thanks Paul.

Paul's stuff is always top-notch, especially as it's stuff you really will use in the real world and you know it's all been properly road tested by the man himself, not some bedroom wonder or armchair magician.

Kind words, too, Mike. Yes - I use ALL of it (and more) in my professional act; some of it for 30 years!

And spot on recommendations! I bought Corner of Piccadilly before it was released by Paul and Card-Shark (at a magic conference) and it's been one of my favorite routines. I've gone through so many sets of cards, had it in my breast pocket for at least 5 years or so. Just brilliant to be able to reach for 4 cards in your shirt pocket and blow some minds away.

I also bought Card Startlers when it was published and boy did it contain items I could add to my arsenal.

You might also check out Blockbusters with cards. It's very good also, though I don't like the “random shuffling” of demonstrations vs. explanations on the DVDs. But the routines are very good indeed!

If you are looking at Pauls packet tricks I totally endorse the comments on Corner Of Piccadilly but alsio recommend Psychadelic Foursome ( I think I have that title right)

This is a lovely little trick with a killer finish. The sleights are all in most peoples arsenal and odd bits that might not be are in the instructions.

I bought this from Paul at Blackpool this year after watching him dem it numerous times

Hello again Paul,

Just gonna give your DVD set another plug, for anyone who may be considering another DVD purchase.

I now have several more routines under my belt, & what a fantastic addition to my dvd collection yours are.
I can highly recommend this set to anyone who is looking for good material to learn.

IMHO a good stepping point from Royal Road.

If interested, only a few left of the current stock; especially after the RAVES it's been getting in various magic magazines and on the web. Thanks each!

3 word for you ... Easy Ace Estimation ... Its been a reputation maker from me, and was taught to me by the man himself YEARS ago at the Sussex magic Circle ...

As Stated ... 3 words, no less, and it works great, standing, sat down, on a poker table and gives you SO MUCH freedom for the final ace reveal - which leaves you in the PERFECT situation for "Dr Daleys last Trick" or any other ace trick :D

Brilliant Trick :D

I have recently begun getting more into magic (buying "The Royal Road to Card Magic book) and am intrigued by your DVDs, at the moment I can only get one which one would be a better step up to a more intermediate standard?

Card Startlers contains some easy things and most sleights used in the other tricks are standard; easy to find descriptions on youtube etc. Lots of strong, imho, magic you can use... PG

Is the other DVD of the 2 more advanced, more complex tricks I take it then?
