Intake by Kevin Parker

Price: $5 (around £3)
Available from: http://kparkerproductions.webs.com/intake.htm
Rating: 6.5/10

Intake by Kevin Parker is a PK effect where you pull a plastic bottle towards yourself seemingly with just the power of your mind. (If you want a view of what this trick looks like, follow the link above for a demo). The effect seems more attractive by the fact that it does not use string, thread, wires, magnets, or assistants. You really can walk up to someone, place down a bottle and make it move seemingly by itself and you can show your hands empty at any point.
I think that this trick could be very good in the right situation. It would be pretty easy to perform for one person but I think that for more than that it would take quite a bit of audience management in order to stop the secret from being revealed. The method seems quite original and is definitely clever and imperceptible from the right angle. I think a big strength of it is that you can show your hands empty before and after. You can also hand the bottle out for examination straight afterwards. I think the big weakness with this is the angle issues, it is definitely not something to be performed if you have people surrounding you.
The download video itself is definitely not something for people who value production quality or detail. It is very simple, easy to understand and teaches the very basics of the trick itself. He leaves out details like angles and when to load the gimmick but does explain how to use the gimmick. The quality of both sound and video is not great but honestly it is not something which is needed to understand the technique involved and for the price it is being sold at, this is not really an issue. It really is the bare bones of an explanation.
The trick is not impromptu but the gimmick for it is something you will almost certainly have in your home and if you do not, you can buy it very easily from many places. It is easy to put in place before you begin and easy to remove after you finish.
Overall, I think that this trick is good for the right situation and that in that situation it would work very well but it is not suited to many environments or performances. The download teaches things very quickly and does not really go into detail but this isn’t a big negative and for the price, if this trick interests you you may as well buy it for the times you can use it.

Overall, 6.5/10

Complete bo11ocks

Stay away, don't buy it. Not practical at all in any situation.

Waste of money I'm afraid.

If you like what you see, buy it for £3, but don;t expect to ever perform it in front of anything but the camera
