Italian Mathematician and willing to learn. Hi!

Postby MiKo » Oct 20th, '11, 09:57

Hi everybody!

My name is Michelangelo, although on the internet I am known as MiKo.
I'm an Italian mathematician currently living in Finland, with an interest in everything the human mind can conceive.

I am a bit of a skeptic and a strong supporter of the scientific method, so, after at one point in my life I got fed up with people trying to transmit me their enthusiasm about horoscopes and the like, I started researching the topic. As I am an avid learner and absolutely love acquiring new skills, I have discovered an extremely fascinating world. My main interest at the moment are (and have been for the last months) in no particular order:

- Suggestion and influence
- Hypnosis
- Muscle reading
- Body and face reading
- Cold reading and false predictions/coincidence
- Predictable patterns in human thought
- Basically anything that does not require a particular sleight of hand

I am very willing to (and actually in the process of) learning the basics of these skills, for the reasons I stated above (because I like knowing things and to prove that "if I can do it, then it is nothing supernatural in it") and also because I have several ideas on how I could apply them to improve my other activities (tango, choir singing and several other).
Being in the impossibility of having an actual teacher, I have had to rely on books and the internet. And that's how I ended up here.

So please pass by and say hello, I'd really appreciate it.

If you are willing, you could also do for me one or more of the following things:

1) Send me (by private message) a cold reading of my personality. I am struggling to obtain examples of these, and I am not willing to pay a charlatan for that.
2) Signal your favourite threads on the topics above, that I can find on this forum.
3) Suggest any good material (videos, tutorials, other forums etc.) freely available on the internet.

Please don't tell me to use the search function of the forum: that's the next thing I'm doing after I finish posting this; I just wanted to say hello first.

In return, I can offer my analytical point of view and my mathematical skills and experience for any kind of question you could have (although, of course, I cannot guarantee a correct answer, or even an incorrect one).
Bear in mind (since this are the most common maths related questions I receive) that I am not so strong in statistics. But I know a lot of fellow mathematicians, so ask anyway.

Thanks for reading so far,
Michelangelo

PS: forgive my cold style. It's because I'm used to writing mathematical academic papers, but I am quite of an enthusiast in general...

Hello and welcome.

Let me be the first to endorse Anthony Jacquin's "Reality is Plastic" book on impromptu hypnosis.

Terve Miko! I lived in Finland for a while, up in the frozen north of Oulu. I was working on mobile phone design at the time. :)

Enjoy the forum, lots of info here and some very wise minds.
