Greatings from Sunny Southampton

Postby Mynci » Jan 12th, '12, 09:51

Hi everyone

I'm a beginner just starting out in southampton. I am a semi professional manipulator of Balls, staffs and other fiery props who as I get older want to move into something more sedate and less painfull on the back and doesn't involve carrying a small carload of equipment. I've always loved magic and have some basic card sleights and am just moving into coins.

Any advice recommendations for my area for resources for learning / meeting would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there! This is definately the place to be for advice although sadly the forums seem quiet today. For coin magic I would check out modern coin magic by j.b bobo although you might want to check the reviews as I havnt bought a copy yet. Hope I helped.

Thanks - J.B Bobo is on my "to get" list I am have started out with Jay Sankeys revolutionary coin magic and was disappointed by the lack of speech the visual explanations are good but I like a good verbal one to go with it helps explain the workings a little better.

Hello and welcome.

The 4-disc DVD of Bobo is well worth getting to accompany the book.

Basing my current skills on Oz Pearlmans born to perform with the ambitious card and the biddle trick.

Welcome.
Reading between the lines don't be in a hurry to ditch the juggling. A billiard ball,or even a sponge ball routine, with a few juggling moves included can greatly add to the entertainment value. Hard won skills should not be discarded.

I couldn't ever "ditch" juggling. it's so much a part of everything I do now. I used to work in a cocktail bar too so when washing up I flick all the plastic cups off the drainer catching them in the previous cup until I have a nice stack. I'm dangerous in a kitchen as I'm always tossing knives spoons and forks about and catching them behind the head or back too.

I would love to work some good sleights in with some tricky juggles or possibly as a reveal with a card printed on or in a ball or club.
