Alright admittedly that was an obscure one, for the curious the song was; Circus Contraption Marshmallows and Holy Bible.

New one

Smashing stones in the blistering heat
I faced the police and I got beat
I faced the police and I got beat
I needed cash so I could eat
I faced the police and I got beat

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

I fought the Law and the Law won - The Clash?

Hows about:

Initially I was very apprehensive
Even more so
Dwelling on my inability
To exist on my own.
I endured many dark hours
Remembering how badly you treated me
And I gained strength and learned how to move on.

Shame on you Mandrake! It was Sonny Curtis from 'Buddy Holly and the Crickets'

Although admittedly I was thinking of the Clash cover when I wrote it so perhaps you were reading my mind?

Perfect Day - Lou Reed

I'd stroll 2.64 million feet Then I'd do it again
If only to be the bloke who travelled 1609344 metres so I could collapse after walking up your pathway

Smokey Robinson - Tracks of my Tears.

Currently you are against me, horizontally, doing me.

Hot Chocolate - I Believe in Miracles

Certain elements of society consider me to be insane, however I believe I'm merely liberated.
Sir, I'm just existing in my own world, I have a clean bill of mental health.
