Postby Stephen Ward » Feb 20th, '12, 12:03

The Effect

This PDF contains 6 effects that are ideal for close-up or stage. Blurb taken from website.

1.Candy & Gum: The sweetest prediction ever.

2.INYE 1&2: Two coin switches that you can use for any coin bend routine.

3.Applause Guaranteed: What more can you ask for a closer?

4.Participant as Momentary Mindreader: Expand the perception of your participant and enable him to read the mind of another person for a brief moment.

5.IPD: An impromptu peek device that you can create in a second. A full peek! (Boldness not included).

6.Directervil: Maybe this one is too powerful. Predict three random thoughts anytime, anywhere, with simple mechanics (without gimmicks).

Cost

$14.99 from http://amirismvol1.blogspot.com/

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

2-3 Nothing really hard here but of course you need a certain persona and experience to present good mentalism

Review

To start off i will say i like this, i really, really like this PDF! When you read through the effects one of the first things that will jump out at you will probably be Directervil. I think that and Applause Guaranteed is worth the money alone. AG is something you can do at a moments notice with a minimum of props. It is something most of you will be able to do straight away. A simple, practical way of getting a good reaction and being able to demonstrate what you do anytime, anyplace, anywhere.

Directervil is the other big thing here, and what a beauty it is (but don't take me word for it, go to the website and see the other comments about how good this is). This is very simple to perform and will pack a real punch when you do it for a real audience.

there is no weak material in the PDF, it is all good practical mentalism that you can use.

Overall

9/10!

Everything of Pablo's that I've got is very good. I've not got this one but looks like it'll have to be added to my shopping list. :)

Amira was nice enough to send me a copy of this to review as well... When I wrote to him about it I said that I wasn't sure if I was the sort of person he wanted to review is as I'm relatively new to mentalism, and have only been on stage performing a couple of times... and with that, he sent it to me to review on here!

So, as clearly I'm not in the same league as Mr Ward, would this PDF be of use to someone with far less experience?

Quite simply, yes!

Applause Guaranteed is great! And very simple. As with anything of this ilk, it needs a bit of performance, but I really can see it being used! As Stephen said, a great closer! I have a feeling that I will be using this one a lot!

Directervil is certainly very strong as well... classic mentalism, and very well handled! I like this a lot to...

However, for me the idea that I like the best is Participant as a Momentary Mind Reader! Haven't had a chance to use this yet, but really can't wait! With a little carefull chosing of spectator, this could be rather amazing!

(And as far as chosing of assistants goes, Pablo seems to have a spectacular pair of guests to assist in the examples of this PDF!!!)

Any critisism? Well, no, not really! This is a lovely little PDF, some very strong routines, a metal bending thing that, if that's what you do, I'm sure is very good (I still haven't started on Liquid Metal) and a very nice Impromptu Peek Device... a sort of utility thing rather than a trick in itself. But I've played with this idea a bit over the last couple of days and it's very useable and natural. Certainly useful for those moments when you're just handed a pack of cards with the phrase..."Go on then, do something!" (There's also a nice little link in the PDF to a video clip showing how this is done with blank or business cards!)

All of which means that if Stephen Ward liked this, and I found that I can use it too, then Pablo has written something that is practical and useful to performers of pretty much most levels!

Looking forward to Volume 2 already!

just had my first read through of this pdf and yes it looks good. All very strong material and well explained. Just one thing, I like to print these documents so that I am able to read them again and again whilst Im out. This pdf you cant print. Some moves are not explained ( I know what they are, but some may not). I think if you are selling an effect you have to make it complete. Just my opinion before people go off on one.
Great thinking and workable effects.

Does this mean I won't be able to transfer this to my Kindle, too?

It sounds great, but I struggle to read stuff of any length on my laptop, so this would be a minus point for me, if it wasn't transferrable :(

Bought this yesterday, after speaking with Amira, and arranging a copy which I could convert for Kindle (this worked nicely); he's a very accomodating chap

As has already been mentioned, there's some really strong routines in this collection, and they're certainly well worth the asking price with - for me - some real workers, that I'll be using once my patter's smooth enough.

Highly-recommended - really looking forward to Volume 2 :D

I'm half way through this at the moment and it's looking very good, I wouldn't expect anything less from Pablo. I'll write up a proper review when I've finished it but I'm very impressed so far...

I'd just like to add that the IPD (Impromptu Peek Device) is very, VERY cheeky, and works like a dream :D

Thanks Becky. In Amirism Vol 2 I dream to put just garbage, but because you say that, I will not do that

That´s one quick way to get information that is perfect to performers who wants to create a complete focus on the real important experience. I don't like long unnecessary methods. Just simple an direct ways to do the work securely and quickly in the less time possible, and the most time possible in the mystery.

Glad that both are enjoying the ideas on there!
