One Question Tom, when you say a brand new deck can this still be shrink wrapped and sealed?

I'd just like to point out with mine that I've just recieved.
The red gimmick doesn't match what it's meant to match, the blue is more acceptable.
No way I'd use the red, it's has a noticeable purple tint to it & blue I'd be wary of in bright light.

Hi Johny. I'd send it back as it must be a faulty one. I have no colour issues with mine

I know that this is a very old post. But I came across this when searching the net and got one.

If you are into mentalism this is a must, it's a great utility device, and you will soon come up with loads of great routines to use with it. Not seen anything similar. I just know that I am going to toast people with this. If you switch it out at the end of the trick and switch a plain deck in the audience will have to think that it is real mind reading.

Get it!

There is a similar idea to glimpse in Larry Beckers Stunners Plus - but larry only uses it for cards. He also has a similar idea (ish) using matchboxes. His book might give more ideas for you to use glimpse with.

Of course now you know the idea behind glimpse you can make other gaffs, not just for the type that came with glimpse (i.e. waddingtons, piatnik etc.). It will of course mean buying 2 boxes and destroying one of them in the process of making your new gaff.

Just like to mention the above comment. You should not need to swap the gaff out. If done correctly there should be no heat on the it. I think if you use it at the end of a set of more traditional magic tricks, then you may come unstuck. Either just use it in a mentalism routine, perhaps after doing a poker effect showing how you can influence peoples choices etc etc or at the start of a group of card tricks where you run straight on with further tricks not requiring the gaff. If however you are a card technitian I can think of a number of other ways to glimpse the card i.e. the turnaround glimpse (Kaufman - Basic card sleights).

Using glimpse is all about the setting you use it in.

Chears Alan.

This was the next thing on my list of stuff...the reason i was going to buy it is because i wanted to be able to perform the effect derren brown pulls off on his stage show where he picks the person who has the black ball. As the description of glimpse says that you can put poker chips in a card box and know which one is taken, i assumed that i could do the same with the balls. Would i be correct?

Balls are ok.

Balls are ok as long as they fit into a card case easily. In fact anything that fits into a card case at all.

I was thinking same thing

Anyone care to comment as to which of these 2 would be best to buy :?:
Are they both basically the same trick, or completely different (I'm not asking for the mechanics of the tricks of course  ) :?:

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

I don't own this effect, but I own oddball. So going by the name of this product and what I've read in this thread, the effects are similar, but in no way use the same method. Oddball is a standalone effect, whereas this seems like more of a utility.
