If the music world were like the magic world...

Postby Lord Freddie » Feb 26th, '12, 17:45

Every time someone wrote a song a failed musician would pop up wagging his finger and listing all the songs prior that used the same chord sequence.

People would be expected to pay for an album without hearing a note of it first.

Cover bands would say they didn't sound as good as the original as it was all "studio trickery".

During a concert the audience would be tinkering with their own guitars.

There will be 500 different versions of "Yesterday" with different endings.

Composers will sell you a new type of guitar for each song you want to play.

The audience would comment afterwards that it was probably just clever plucking of the strings and not real music.

There would be a huge global market for self-playing music boxes, and some performers would charge you to watch them turning the handle.

Wizard Music Review will claim that performer A used a C-sharp in A's performance which has been taken without permission from the d-flat in B's performance.
A and B disagree with WMR. WMR has egg on it's face.

Sheet music would cost £30 per song and would be near impossible to read.

YouTube would be full of kids teaching you (badly) how to play your favourite songs without buying the music.
Oh, wait...

People would buy 500 guitars and effects pedals and stash the in the cupboard, used once.

People who have never done a gig will sit on forums telling people playing every night how to do it better.

A multi-coloured set of guitar strings would cost six times the price of normal ones.

It would cost three times the price for a blank music sheet.

There would only be one genuine song about a broken heart and all the rest would be a rip off.
