Hello, first post so I'll introduce myself.
I'm (nearly) 40 and a psychiatrist. I started getting interested in magic nearly 30 years ago but drifted away and have got back into magic after starting contact juggling.
I enjoy close up and mentalism, most comfortable with sponges and cards.

Anyway, I'll go back to lurking and reading!

Hi Soveda,

As an ex-Psychiatric Nurse, I can tell you you've come to the right place - pretty much everyone here is a potential detainee under the MHA

Hope you find your stay with us useful, and enjoyable (and, if you'd be good enough to persuade an ASW to join-up, too, we can finally deal properly with some of the unrulier elements on the Forum! )

Hi Soveda, interesting job you have. I am surprised I haven't ended in one of your chairs!! The reason I am saying this is because for the last 12 years have been working in Histopathology, you know what its like?? Grusome body parts and Mortuary stuff etc... Anyway I have been doing magic for 10 years now to take away the edge of my work.. But was thinking how much does being a Psychiatrist help with Mentalism?? :)

MEMBER OF THE SHEFFIELD CIRCLE OF MAGICIANS.
Is magic really real ??

To mis-quote the old saying:

You don't have to be mad to be here - but it helps....oh how it helps.....

Welcome! Just one thing I must ask. How does one juggle without contact?

Contact juggling= props remain in contact with the body, rolling/spinning. One of the most challenging things is isolating objects in space so they give the illusion of weightlessness etc. The most famous example of cj is probably in the film Labyrinth

soveda,Thanks for the youtube ref.
My remarks show how ignorant a supposedly well informed person can be. Contact juggling looks very interesting and entertaining and, I think, it could meld very well into a magic act.

It just struck me. Wouldn't "Contact Juggling" be a marvelous intro to Zombie?
