The Effect Mentally divining a freely thought of film title, no force, no funny shuffles, just let the spec choose and go for it!
Difficulty (1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)
Definitely 1 for the method but, as with all good magic, you’ll need to be able to present the routine properly.
What it says on the tin:A spectator chooses one horror movie from a list of 10. You make a prediction and then reveal how you have read their thoughts when you tell them which horror movie they chose.
The spectator has a completely free choice and you are always able to predict their chosen horror movie.
This is very easy to do with no memory work involved. Carry ‘Sight’ in your wallet and you are ‘good to go’.
You get:
• A DVD with full explanations
• A card with a list of horror movies
• Special something with no memory work required. ReviewThe blurb says it all, there are 10 titles of horror films printed on a rather nice, gothic theme card, just the right size to fit in a wallet or business card holder, the spec holds the card, freely selects one of the titles and concentrates on it. The performer then starts the magic of divination and gets it right every time. The films range from very old to quite recent, some are well known and some are probably less well known. The DVD goes into full detail of how, why and what to do, the special something is excellent, very sneaky and does the job extremely well. The card itself is well printed, silvery white on black and the silvery parts have a muted shine which reflects the horror theme very well. You’ll need to provide a few of your own business cards, or blank ones from the nearest stationery supplier, and a pen but that’s all.
Dee explains the routine fully on the DVD but there are possibilities to enhance this, the films all have a date alongside the title so, with a little memory work, that could be used as an extra reveal; it could also be used as a link to any other routine using dates – let your imagination loose and see how you can adapt it.
Overall An excellent item to keep in the wallet ready for a performance at any time, definitely in the ‘packs small plays big’ category and would work well for table hopping as the outcome can be different each time it’s performed.
Rating: 9 out of 10. I like this one, just the sort of thing to have handy if you're suddenly expected to 'do something' at a moment's notice. Equally at home in a full cabaret or close up act.
