Flag silks ... Or silk flags?

Postby isb » Apr 22nd, '12, 22:22

Folks,

Can anyone suggest a place where I might be able to get silks patterned with the flags of the uk?

I'm thinking about Scottish flag and a Union Flag, though English, Welsh and NI flags would be useful but not essential. Would need to be all the same size and not too big.

Thanks,

Ian

Soivenir shops usually sell small national flags, 6" x 4" or so. You could also contact http://www.greensofgloucestershire.com and see their Table Flag range, 99p or £1.99 plus VAT depending on which type and the material used.

Thanks Mandrake.

Not quite what I was looking for, but if I can figure out a handling for a switch (had intended d*e tube - don't want to use tt or chg bag) these could work...

I'm thinking through some ideas for young Adam to perform, and have a few ideas about the nations in the uk - there's a devolution-based theme possibility, though maybe a bit grown-up for him, or changing the 4 national flags into the union flag. There are another couple I'm working through, being from Scotland, which would only use the 2 flags. I think a chg bag might be the best in the end, but I really wanted to avoid it as I reckon they look too much like a prop. And a TT would only really work for a 1:1, and doesn't have the repeatability of a d*e tube.

Still very much at the brainstorming stage...

isb: Why not make up the Massal Tube.( Marconick's Silk Magic--although it has been 'borrowed' by a number of magicians over the years.)

I made one up, from a roll of stiff black paper, many years ago and glued a map of the world on one side. Various colours were inked in as blue for the sea etc.
The tube was unrolled to show it empty, then re rolled. The storyline was to do with people devastating the environment. So a green silk was the earth, a blue silk, the sea etc. Placed in the tube they changed into clean silks.

Strangely I had a Big Clearout 2 days ago and through it in the bin!! ah!

If you type Silk Flags into Google you will find a number of dealers. The Polyester ones are the cheapest and last the longest.
