That is sad. :( Remember watching a very old clip of him on youtube, involving a bird act.. He was one of the original old school magicians.

MEMBER OF THE SHEFFIELD CIRCLE OF MAGICIANS.
Is magic really real ??

no way!! tragic news. I wrote the reviews for the book. He was an inspiring figure.
Indeed, i think that everybody in magic should read his book.
I can see him up in the clouds now.. teaching the cherrubs his act.:)

Wasn't he the FIRST magician to use budgies--cannot remember the American name for them.

I vaguely remember he had a sort of mini Indian Rope Trick up which a budgie climbed. Also cannot remember if it disappeared.

He was on the cover of the first copy of the Sphinx I bought from Paul Clive's Magic Shop on the North Pier.
This would be about 1946/47

My parents & I saw Mary Naylor in Blackpool one of those years. She was a famous British Singer. I think it was in a show with Ralph Reader (the Gang Show originator) & a young Cardew Robinson, one of whose comedy acts was dressed as a pirate.
Mary married Jack Kodell.
They were featured in a Stan Allen's Magic Magazine sometime in the late 90's or early 2000's

indeed he was the first to use budgies, In the book, he explains the basic workings behind the Indian rope vanish. That little bird was very well trained!!!!
