But are they really your friends?

They could actors, body snatchers, figments of your imagination, cyborgs controlled by a hive mind, continual sensory memories fed directly into your brain by a symbiotic relationship with a greater plant based life form that our real bodies require in order to not reject the fabricated world we have come to expect from our birth and genetic memory or they might just be pretending so they don't hurt your feelings.
