Review- Richard Pinner’s P.E.T
Available from www.littleshopofmagic.co.uk

Cost £25 (includes free delivery)
Refill envelopes available from £5 per pack

What it says:
A revolution in card to envelop effects. No longer do you need to carry an expensive, oversized wallet to have an impossible location for a signed card to appear.
A plastic envelope is shown to contain a sealed paper envelope. Inside this is the signed card, bank note, ring etc.
Everything you used to do with your wallet and more is possible with PET

What you receive:
2 x PET (a clear one and a black one)
20 x red chinese envelopes

Review:
The PET (Plastic Envelope Thing) is an inexpensive and practical alternative to the magicians standard of a card to wallet. It is much less bulky, it is lightweight, and much more convenient to carry with you.
The set up is easy and will only take you a few seconds. The load is quick and easy with everything I have tried so far (cards, coins, banknotes, rings).
The props don’t come with any instructions other than how to prepare the paper envelopes, but to be quite honest it doesn’t need it. Anyone who has been in magic more than 5 minutes will understand exactly how to use the PET - however there is an instructional video available online which explains how to operate the prop (anyone who has ever used a card to wallet will be able to operate this instantly) and does give a couple of suggestions on routines, although doesn’t go into details. Personally I think this is good however as it encourages individual inspiration for uses of the PET and already my mind is working through a few different ideas.
Personally, I only have one downside to this prop. It is fractionally too small to use with the larger Bonsall Magicians envelopes which is what I hoped I would be able to do (which are also compatible with my JOL wallet). My intention was to have my JOL and my PET set up at the same time. Who knows, maybe in future if it goes for a freshen up, it may be made to utilize the Bonsall envelopes, however this is merely just my personal desire.

Overall
This is a fantastic utility prop and a very welcome addition to any magicians arsenal, and is fantastically commercial. This is going straight into my pocket and will be used a lot. I’m really excited to get this going.
The PET receives a rating of 9/10 from me, only losing a point because of he compatibility issues with the Bonsall Envelopes.

It does look interesting. I already use a JOL as my regular wallet but it's good to see other options to those who carry, say, a lady's purse (ladies, for example).

There's a fantastic gimmick free card to envelope on the Child's Play DVD, but you need to produce something else from the envelope too, so it wouldn't suit all routines.

PET works great with Childs Play. I have not used it with the routine myself but I think Gary has?

This will work great if you dont have a card to wallet or want to keep the routine seperate from other possible wallet routines you might do in the same set.

Does it have anything over the ungimmicked envelope version on the Childs Play DVD?

No, its just a variation.

I like PET its very easy to use and a great addition if you dont use a wallet. I actually use it without an envelope.

So you're basically producing it from a plastic envelope?

Is it nice plastic or horrid plastic? Some plastics just feel so horrid and, you know, sort of... plasticy.

Does it feel like something you might have bought in a regular stationers? Does it seem odd to specs that you have a plastic envelope?

I've been using an envelope for Childs Play, the sort greetings cards come in, and I have my name and address hand written on it and a stamp with a postmark, i.e. I sent it to myself, so it all makes sense. This is a photo and a card my five year old cousin Barbara sent me...

Not that everything has to make sense in every routine. But it's nice if it does.
