When I was living in London, I was a regular visitor to International magic shop in London, were Jerry was working, and he always performed a excellent card trick to all that was in the shop. He card magic was outstanding... Nice memories from the good old days. 8) Regards Garry.

I'll be staying up in Stirling for the last week so will see a few shows but no idea what just yet, I'll probably just see what's on when we're up there. We've done that for the last couple of years and found a few real little gems.

Will do! Got his book from him at a lecture a while back got lots of good stuff so would be good to see it in action. I wonder if there are any open mic nights, would be good to see and participate.

Are you working or holidaying in Stirling? Great part of the country BTW.

(to keep on topic, booked already for R Paul Wilson and Iain Kendall at the Fringe)

I saw (R) Paul Wilson and Ian Kendall's shows back-to-back last night. They're both at the same venue, one after the other (only a 10-minute changeover - typical of the Fringe), so it's a great way to see a couple of top performers.

Paul Wilson's show was an hour of Cards, Coins and Cons. The card stuff was mostly gambling (and crooked gambling) themed, and there were a few non-card effects to break it up. Everything was expertly presented and a total joy to watch, especially when he got a spec up to wager with him on a classic con game and made him (the spec) sweat. Great stuff and well worth a tenner.

While there were some common themes between the two shows (both did a crooked dealing demo) Ian Kendall's show was more of a magical presentation where he explained his Obsession with magic. One slight hiccup when he was reading my mind to identify my selected card - he eventually asked if I was a magician and, well, yes I suppose I am a bit, but I wasn't using any magical knowledge to confound him - though he handled that with the professionalism that comes from spending a lifetime in magic. WeeMagicAdam and I were delighted to be able to chat with him afterwards and he even gave Adam some pointers on a couple of sleights. Another great show (also well worth a tenner) and a genuinely nice guy, but we at TM already know that.

Paul Wilson 8pm, Ian Kendall 9pm(ish), both at the Zoo (venue on the Pleasance in central Edinburgh - not the actual Edinburgh Zoo).
Brief review based on the shows I paid to see last night. I'm not involved in promoting them and have no financial interest etc. etc.

Hubby's from Stirling so we're going up to see his family. It is a lovely part of the country.

Doug's been getting rave reviews.

If anyone's up there and wants something non-magical, give your chuckle muscle a treat by seeing the splendid Helen Arney in "Voice of an Angle" (not a typo) at Underbelly. Comic songs on the uke. Lovely. Check out "Animals": http://www.helenarney.com/

Can you tell I'm a bit of a fan?

I have now seen an online review of poor Kendall's show. I shall, however, be merciful to him and not post it. I shall let him do it himself if he wants to. He posted it elsewhere for reasons I know not what. In the past I have tried to instill in him the notion that honesty is not the best policy but alas he takes no notice.

Why have I only just remembered Colin McCloud's show?

Is he doing a individual show or are you talking about the sketch/magic one I think called the colour of ham? Either way I will probably. I went to see Richard Wiseman during the week. He was good but he revealed the french drop and multiple outs which no doubt will go in to the laymen theres arsenal of 'i know how you did that' entertaining all the same.

Also I went to see the grumpy old magicians from my local magic circle. Very good storyline and creative twists on some good tricks.
