Genetics by Sean Goodman

Just recently picked this up and thought if give it a review here as I couldn't find a link to it.

It's basically an OOTW routine Aimed at both men and women, making it an ideal effect to perform at weddings.
I was honestly impressed when I received this and it's one of those effects where it literally does pack small plays big,
and you think why the hell didn't I come up with this?!
Below is the advertisement of the trick:

MagicTricks.co.uk are proud and excited to introduce to you Sean Goodman, making his debut with a blinder of an effect...a guaranteed worker and perfect for any wedding magician...completely self working, fun trick to perform...please welcome...Genetics!
A fabulous effect to show to a couple! You explain that men and women think differently and like different things. To illustrate this, you show some cards which have pictures of various items such as a dog, cat, iron, whip etc. and suggest that some will appeal to men and someL to women.

The cards are mixed and then offered one at a time to the man and woman alternately. Any cards they don’t want are discarded. At the end, to their amazement the man’s selections are turned over and they all have BLUE BACKS, and the woman’s have PINK BACKS!

You receive a set of specially produced quality cards in a plastic wallet together with an instructional DVD. The DVD runs through different handling variations of the basic plot, and also includes anothergreat routine which has a fab kicker finale.

PLUS, Sean also shares his brilliant double business card peek technique which can be added to the basic Genetics routine – this is worth the price itself! A truly practical peek that real workers will use immediately.

Genetics is a joy to perform. It’s fun and full of audience participation. Simple to perform, immediately resets and packs a punch! And it’s DIFFERENT!!!!!!

I would give this 10 out of 10, and it's going straight into my professional act, as a warm, light hearted effect where lots of banter and jokes are aplenty, which works well for both men and women.

I must also stress that I have no connection with or ever met Sean Goodman

Impossible is nothing, if you only believe!

Hi, just spoken to Sean about this, what a great guy he is too. Plenty time to talk, nice to see.
Ordered as soon as I put the phone down. Looking forward to this, and the bit extra as well.
Keith.

Thanks for the link

Am on the verge of buying, but may I ask a couple of questions first.

You didn't give it a diffuculty rating out of five, could you do so please?

Are there any sleights involved? I understand this is an awkward once to answer, I guess what I want to know overall is how easy is this to perform?

Is there much memory work involved outside of the routine itself?

I await a reply & my wallet being made lighter :-)

I Received my copy of this morning.

This is just brilliant. I have known about this for a long time and seen Sean perform it to great reactions.

These new props are brilliantly made and look great..

The skill level is self working and there is even a very clever method so there is no memory work at all. There is no memeory work needed. Over time you will learn the photo's which will just speed up the performance.

This will be the first of many brilliant routines from Sean I am sure. He has had alot in put with many of mine and always comes up trumps. Its great to see his work finally out there.

I love this and this it has nothing to do with the fact we are friends.

I look forward to working this asap.

10/10

Lee.

Hi, I received this yesterday, and got more than I had expected. The card stock is excellent (but I decided to laminate mine).
The instructions on the DVD are clear and easy to follow.
As for the effect it`s self, it`s a piece of cake to perform, and I can see it getting excellent reactions.
This is certainly something I will be using on a regular basis.
I am also impressed with the bonus section, again something I can see myself using.
This is a brilliant effect, with a great bonus as well.

Keith.

Any issues with examinabilityness? I'm sure if there is it wouldn't be a problem in 99% of cases, but just for those punters who try to mess you up...

Clearly this plays out much like OOTW, but I thought perhaps the method might be entirely different.

Funny thing is...our own Evie Harris performed this a few years ago with me in London...she had a wonderful set of picture cards with boy and girl toys, and her handling was a four way take on OOTW, which is more compelling than the standard approach...interesting how the underground stuff precedes its more popular manifestation ...

Maybe it has to, in a way.

Four way as in four specs and four piles of cards?

This is an excellent effect that I have been using in my restaurant work for the past few weeks. There is loads of scope for interaction/byeplay between the performer and the participants so if you have any personality this will work for you big time.
