Davenports - Ghostly Impressions

Postby Aza » Aug 28th, '12, 14:19

The Effect

Two selected cards are revealed on a clear piece of glass either by blowing on it or using heat from another source.

Cost

Davenports Brand (edited due to my lack of knowledge of this product being sold under different names)

£17ish

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

1/3 (you need to be able to force a couple of cards, the rest is presentation)

Review

Ok, so obviously after chatting away to the two Dans in Davs, and messing around with the Miracle Ring, i asked what other Davenports exclusives they had and Dan showed me this wonderful card revelation.

This is all down to presentation and how you want to come across as a performer, but i quite like using the angle of psychic glass and on a cold night the warmth of the spectators hand will make the card appear on the glass, which is nice as you can ask them to concentrate on their card and send all their energies through the glass and it slowly appears, you can then either do this for a second time in another spectators hand or reveal it in a few different ways.

Overall

I absolutely love this effect, its a nice ending to a two card revelation, you could also use it in a "thought of card routine" (give me time I'm working on it)

9/10 (depending on how well you present it)

Again any feedback on my reviews will be greatly appreciated

Much love

Aza

I think in a professional table hopping type gig it would work better as a single revelation and alternate which one you use after all if someone overhears another table there's a 50 50 chance it'll be different to their own performance OR it's not that hard to believe that the same card got picked by someone else (1 in 52, you know?) whereas overhearing the same pair of cards removes the possibility for a completely different ending and makes the probability of two identical performances seem dubious.

That said I don't perform this myself, not really my cup of tea.

Fair point Stacy,

I'll take this into account for future performance, i just like doing the 2 card revelation, it's nice

Very much my cup of tea, but only cos I'm cards first and foremost and it's good for adding some variety....

Much love
