White Board

Postby micky » Oct 1st, '12, 07:54

Hi,
Can someone provide any review about the "White Board" which is used for mentalism and stage performance?
It seems to be a very strong and impressive prop. It enables you to "guess" various choices made by various participants, being at a distance from them.
I will be glad if someone who already uses it can give some review on it before I order it.
Is it as good as it seems to be?
Is it as efficient as it looks like to make the audience believe that you really have super-natural powers?
Thank you,
Micky

Hi Lawrence,
You are right. I have "discovered" this company recently and have been impressed by their products. This is why I am trying to get more information about them, because I consider to order them, but they are not low in price. :(
They have also another interesting item, but as it is to expensive for me (for the time being), I am not mentioning it (yet). :D

The way he describes it I'm wondering if he's talking about a Mental Epic unit? There's another "White Board" prediction system put out by Guy Bavli but I'm not all that familiar with it. Other than that there's the "Dream Vision" set-up which is very impractical for most.

We've done a bit of checking and we understand that the disappearance of the thread on the other Forum was simply because there was an existing thread on the same topic. We'd remove duplicate threads in very much the same way.

The products on that site are all quite expensive and therefore possibly out of the range of most TM members' budgets but if anyone does have practical information on the item in question it would be most welcome.

It looks pretty good. However, I'd also like to see a few independent reviews before I part with that amount of money. I've been burnt too many times with fantastic youtube clips only to have delivered a total pile of tosh. I'm a lot more careful these days!

The Works and Wilkinsons also do low price white boards and markers - magic on a budget!

Hi Mandrake,
Are these regular white boards or do they enable to do the same as the mentalism white board that I have referred to?

Those posts, Micky, are basically saying that many of the effects which can be performed with the Cobra board can ALSO be achieved with a normal, very cheap, whiteboard.

The Cobra board is nothing special - save your money, and make your own version for a fraction of the price!

My understanding, which is based on the opinions of some quite well-known mentalists, is that using whiteboards on-stage can be quite a problem. Apparently the lights reflect off the board, making it hard for everyone to see what is written upon it.

Possibly this is why we continue to see blackboards, black board (e.g. DB's Svengali routine) and white paper presentation boards.

Slightly off topic but I'm awaiting delivery of a framed double sided slate. They're not easy to come buy so I've had one made. I'd heard from a few people that white boards cause problems with stage lighting. (Maybe an electronic slate is in the offing?)
