Help with Android phone plzzz .......

Postby moonbeam » Oct 17th, '12, 08:11

I've just recently acquired a Sony Xperia S (Android phone).
It's my 1st Android and touchphone, so I've been messing around trying to set things up.
I don't know exactly what I've done, or how I even mmanaged to do it, but everytime I plug the charger in and begin to charge the phone, the following message appears briefly on the screen, "App start, start of alarm and clock" and then the clock/alarm app starts up and prompts me to set the alarm.
It only happens when I'm charging the phone and it's doing my head in now, as I've tried looking in various settings etc, all to no avail :? .
Anyone any idea how to disable this please ??

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

What happens if you set an alarm then clear it?

It makes no difference whatsoever :(
I can set alarm, then exit the clock/alarm and then if I unplug charger and plug it back in it still does the same thing,, prompting me to set an alarm even though one has already been set.
I can set the alarm and delete it and then unplug and plug charger back in - still the same.
It's as if I've set it up to start the clock/alarm app every time I plug the charger in - what gives ??

Can you try resetting to factory defaults and start again?

I'd thought of that, but was hoping I could solve it, otherwise I''m gonna have to re-set all my settings ...... :|

Yea the clock displays the time and date as per usual, during normal use.
It only happens when I plug the charger in, it prompts me to set the alarm ..... well I don't wanna friggin'' set the alarm clock every time I charge my phone up lol :? .

I have an HTC which runs Android and charging just displays the home screen, nothing to do with time, alarms or that sort of thing. Try resetting everything to factory defaults and start all over again. If that doesn't do the trick perhaps check for system updates which may address and fix this problem.

Shout at it and threaten to stamp on it, I'm not sure that it always fixes things but it certainly makes me feel better :)

Sounds like it's a duff one. Have you tried the Sony support forums?

Then again, a little "percussive maintenance" is always therapeutic!

Sorted now - a quick reset sorted it :)
When I plugged my charger in after the reset, a message came up and asked me what I wanted to do when I plug the charger in and it recommended that I set the alarm clock. I disabled it and ticked the "don't show me this message again" box. When I first charged the phone, I hadn't really read the instructions and it was prob at this point that I enabled the pesky thing without realising it.
Anyway, it was an app called "Liveware manager" and you can assign apps to start up when you plug in either the charger, headphones or headset .... so just in case anyone else encounters this problem, just find the app called "Liveware manager" and alter the settings in there :)

I never use Livewire. Too much of a pain. MY Xperia just got Android 4 installed yesterday., Very nice developer features and the screen now rotates in both directions. And the GPS wakes up almost instantly.
