Yet another worthy collection of effects and routines from Paul, also underpriced as usual!
Written in narrative short story form, the reader is taken back to New Year’s Eve 1922 where the author is hosting a small dinner party with a few selected friends. Before, during and after the courses, he performs intriguing routines, relates cuprous tales and other wondrous things. Each routine is described in full and the explanations follow immediately.
The official write-up runs:
- a compendium of Sherlock Holmes inspired bizarre & story-telling magic utilising playing cards, pendulums, and other common objects. The 4 routines contained within this PDF are:
Dr. Bell's Party Piece - Sherlock Holmes was based upon Conan Doyle's medical school lecturer, Dr. Joseph Bell. But just how exactly was Bell able to memorise a freely shuffled deck in just a matter or moments?
Jack the Ripper's Picture Book - a pack of cards once owned by Jack the Ripper? Needless to say, these cards have some very strange properties!
Séance for a Clock-Maker - the spirit of a brutally murdered clock-maker travels through time and space to communicate with your volunteer!
The Curious Case of the Fairy Rings - a pair of silver finger rings given to Elsie & Frances by the Cottingley fairies continue to exhibit a strange hold on whosoever owns them!
These effects are all within the ability of most TM readers, the methods vary from natural to using a little downright jiggery pokery so, as with most of Mr.V’s works, full attention can be given to the presentation and storytelling. On the subject of the story, as the New Year arrives and the story comes to an end, the Author’s prospects for celebration certainly seem to be improving... but you’ll have to buy the PDF to see why...
