Would it be suitable for a mentalism novice willing to put in time or should I start elsewhere on the mentalism road? I normally do card tricks but always open to expanding.

Assuming that one puts in the work, are we talking about days, weeks or months to learn and reach a suitable standard?

Does anyone know if this is available on a site that uses normal credit card processing - ie. non-paypal. We don't have access to Paypal in South Africa - we can't even use a credit card through paypal
This effect sounds great.
Thanks for the review :D

Thanks Tom - that's sold it to me and I;'ll be placing my order today.

I'd actually seen this on the web earlier this month and was interested back then but had other things to buy first.

I've been reading this through today and have read twice so far. The concept is fascinating but has anyone put it into practice yet and if so, what were the results?

I've performed a few limited experiments today to just test the very basics of the system using one or two questions at the most. This was done covertly so that I could compare the answers given by the test subjects with the path in the manuscript and I did have mixed results.

Using the examples provided, I've found that people base some of their replies on their own personal preferences. Example would be them stating that they didn't think that a jungle was hot as they don't mind the heat, despite the fact that this wasn't how the question was asked.

Obviously more time and development on my part will hopefully improve on my reading the situation more effectively but anyone elses experiences (without giving any of the secret away of course) would be helpfull.

Sorry this an old thread I'm opening and I may well get shot for it, but I just thought that some of the newer members might not know about this beautiful piece of kit. Considering however that it's been reviewed here already, I'll just post a quick review here and then be on my way :D

The Effect

This is essentially jst a mentalism manuscript...

From the website...

"Most mentalism effects involve a prop of some kind; be it information written down on a piece of paper, a book from which a word is peeked or any other object which is used to achieve the effect.
The Mentalists 'holy grail' however, is to perform with no props whatsoever; he is, after all, a mind reader - so why not just go out there and read minds ?
'Sensory Projection' is a system we have designed for performing mind-reading stunts; the system can be applied to many different topics and in the manuscript we have used the system to give you the effect 'Being There' in which the spectator thinks of a movie and you, the mentalist, by using the 'Sensory Projection' technique reveals the spectator's inner thoughts.
But here's what 'kills':

The spectator isn't asked to 'project the words onto a screen' while you pluck the letters from the title. The spectator isn't asked to write the movie down on a piece of paper, from which you then divine the chosen movie. Instead, the spectator imagines they are in the movie and you sense what they see, what they feel, what they hear and what they smell. This is why it is called 'Sensory Projection'. .

You receive a 25 page professionally designed downloadable manuscript complete with a description of the 'Sensory Projection' system, the superb effect 'Being There' and all the information you require to develop your own stunning effects using the concept! "

Cost

A tenner over here in Blighty, 14 of those newfangled Euro thingies and 17 of your american dollars guys!

Available from www.underground-collective.com

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

I'd give this a three on difficulty. There's no sleights as such because this is just pure mind reading.
There's a little bit to learn, but I'm sure all you collective geniuses will have no problems figuring it out! :D

Review

I got this after having it personally recommended to me by Craig Browning. So I knew it was going to eb something special

Firstly... Well, it's a manuscript. So I suppose I should say that it's a very professionally made manuscript and certainly looks the part.
They give you a breif background to this (and a slightly different technique) and then launch you full on!
They give you an example of how the effect will run. I was sceptical and didn't believe it. But nonetheless I persisted. And boy am I glad I did.
I take this with me EVERYWHERE now. A lot of people who know me know I'm moving into mentalism at the moment and they always say stuff like "Oooh go on then... read my mind". With this in my wallet I can
Beautifully laid out system, absolutely ingenius and easily adaptable to suit anything at all.

This is a serious tool and the effect outlined is well worth having.
I'll agree with the previous review, people really do freak... it seems SO real!

Overall

This is the first thing I've bought from underground Collective, but it wont be the last I can assure you. Well laid out, easy to follow and simply genius. Also they give you a way of making your own effects using the system.
All for a tenner!

One slight downside though is that it says no props. Whilst this is true, unless (like me) you happen to actually be carrying the list in your wallet, you're gonna have a bit of a hard job so it loses some marks there...

That said, this is a beautiful piece of kit and I'm glad I bought it.

As a friend of mine says: "Blimey! Well that tenner spent was a tenner well spent!"

9/10

[edit] Sorry. That turned out to be a LOT bigger than I had expected... [/edit]

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

 Well, I've been doing this bit since about the time the boys at UC came up with it; it's been a prime piece in my club act for around two years or better, memory serving me correct. But there is a bit of misinformation in our reviews... there is a "prop" of sorts used; a list of items -- I actually use "Being There" which is the routine in the manuscript. It's become one of the Trade Mark bits I do and is so popular that I have the movie list done as a Huge Poster as well as business card sized and several versions in between. I even tailored the menu to a local banquet house I was working with and set it into this formula.

Though it uses an Anagram styled formula it is NOT an anagram. But I'm going to go a step further. Learn this and everything you can about basic Anagram work and toss in the thinking of Daniel Love (DREAM SIGNS) and you will be seen as the real deal... but what would I know about such a thing

One other side note on the Anagram topic... MENTALISM INC. II by Chuck Hickcock has some great thoughts on this technique everyone that uses Anagrams should consider.

Yeah I mentioned the needing of props, although I admit it wasn't very clearly written. Sorry!

Although, more recommendations from Craig...

Oh how my wallet hates the world of mentalism...
But I love it :D
