After hearing the terrible new about Allen, we thought it would be nice if we held a little collection to send him some flowers or something to show our love and appreciation for everything that he's done here and to wish him all the best. Ok, after abit of muttering and swearing at it, I've had a fiddle around with this and can't get it to work as a link but if you copy and paste the address into your browser, removing the " it should work.

Thank you so so much for all your generous donations. Although sadly we're not going to be able to send anything to Allen himself, we've decided to use the money to send some flowers to his wife. I'll organise something over the weekend so I'll leave the link open until tomorrow midday for anyone else who would like to put something into the pot.

Thanks again, your generosity really does go to show how loved Allen was.

Personaly, I would hold back from sending flowers to his wife.

Having paid a farewell to another long term, gifted friend this week,I can assure you that more Flowers are the last thing you want to see.

I think that it would be much better to donate any funds raised, to a charity that was close to Their hearts. This will last much longer than a bunch of flowers, and will cary on the spirit of Allen, by helping others.

The general idea is to let Barbara and the family know that we're all feeling for their loss, perhaps just a small floral tribute? Money left over can certainly be passed on to an appropriate charity in Allen's memory.

If the arrangements are family flowers only then we'll re-think.

Maybe not the best idea, I PM'd with Michael Jay earlier in the week and he wasn't keen because of some stuff that had gone on in the past

He very generously has offered to contribute from his own pocket though, so maybe PM him that PayPal account?

Also, after speaking to Barbara today she confirmed she will be having flowers at the funeral, so maybe some towards flowers and some towards the charity you mentioned?

Or maybe a poll? People can then decide where money they donated should go?
