Sorry to hear the news that actor Clive Dunn died yesterday, aged 92 he only recently started to look the age of the old man characters he played since his early years! Who will ever forget his cries of, "Don't panic, don't panic!" whilst frantically panicking... and, of course, "They don't like it up 'em y'know'"..!
Will be sadly missed.. Fond memories watching him on the telly when I was a youngster.. I think he also had a top 10 song in the charts in the 70s also?
MEMBER OF THE SHEFFIELD CIRCLE OF MAGICIANS. Is magic really real ??
I first came across him in the Fifties as "Mr Crumpet" (not be be confused with Mr Pastry!). Later, he was a regular in "It's a Square World" and also played Mr Justice Cocklecarrot in "The World of Beachcomber". He was one of those people who you would have expected to go on forever.
Will never forget him volunteering for everything also!
One of my fav lines was after Jonesy was reprimanded by Captain Mainwaring. Jones turns to Frazer {i think!} and says "he's playing with fire, you know, I control his sausages!"

I can think of a couple of others who specialised in that - Richard Hearne (the aforementioned Mr Pastry) and Roy Dotrice, who played Albert Haddock in the TV series "Misleading Cases".
