I very much enjoyed the routine. Keep that in mind while I critisize, for me the routine is the most important part and you have that down solid. I don't even care about your hand being in the pocket too long.

What I did not like was the move where you tossed the first 'and second' coin out of the glass. Looked very hai ping chen or whatever its called. I personally think its a dreadful move. And not you doing it, I've never seen it done very well. I think it is one of those moves that we think we do wonderfully and make us look so clever but the reality is vastly different, but that is me, so if you are getting a strong honest reaction from the lay audience keep it. I'm just not sure why it is even in there when there are other ways. But perhaps you like the move so I digress.

The biggest issue is your third coin, You know the move before your hand goes to the pocket for the first time. Slow down, its fine. You do the move well, only way to fast and I think it is because of the 'guilt' issue. I mean the second that edge of the coin comes near your palm you go into lighting mode. Much more effective if you just go slow. Unfortunatly that is not even the problem. The problem is the hand that actually retains the coin. As you move your hand to the stem of the glass your hand suffers from what looks like an epilectilc seizure. I understand why the contortions are there but it takes so much away. Even if the spectator is somewhat unaware of what is going on, that will leave something nagging. Better to leave out the entire move. Any reason why you just can't go into a finger palm and lift the glass by the stem palm downish with the stem between your first finger and thumb. If you are trying to prove the hand empty don't bother. The moment you pick up the glass the assumption will be your hand is otherwise empty.

If you choose to leave in that move then you have to find a cleaner way to achieve it. And that does not mean faster, it means different.

But I want to end on the positive note. I really did enjoy the routine. Just keep working at it, polish it, give it the attention it deserves and in the end you will be greatly rewarded.

couple of points to echo bmat:-

its called a retention vanish because its done slowly after its done bring the hand over the dirty hand and give it a couple of taps, one hot one cold, (add groans were apropiate) this will give you adaquate cover to palm the coin and place this one spider vanish wise on the table, you will then need to move your clenched hand out of the way so your dirty hand can pick up the glass which will be seen to be empty because it just had the clenched hand resting ontop of it.

if you replicate this idea with the okito penetration any odd movement seen after the retrention will be dimissed as you getting into a snooker type hand stand.

why not put the jumbo in your back pocket or waist band, its perfectly natural to place a coin into your pocket and then place your hand behind your back to demostrate your not doing anything sneaky with that hand.  :)

han pin chan moves are always odd but are rarely noticed by a spec who is following what is expected to happen so are not looking in the wrong place so definatly magicians guilt there, personaly for the second coin I prefer the click vanish sometimes called a click pass rather than a han ping move, thogh thease days I'm even more lasy and use a clone coin to clearly show the three and two coins before the jump, always being one ahead. :D
