It's a match version 2.0

The Effect

The official blurb:

You display a glass bowl filled with over two dozen matchbooks from hotels around the country. You also show a hotel key card which is placed face down on the table. The key stays in full view the entire time. The spectator randomly removes matchbooks from the glass bowl, one at a time, and stops on any one they choose. They turn the key over and both are a PERFECT MATCH!

This is so diabolically clever; we wish we could tell you how it's done!
•The spectator FREELY chooses ANY matchbook.
•There are NO switches or funny moves!
•Perfect for close up or even platform!

This updated version now includes 25% more custom printed matchbooks (with a different hotel from the original release), a custom manufactured hotel key, and detailed dvd instructions which include bonus ideas and tips.

Review

I really like this product. It's fun to perform and you can get quite creative. I have a glass bowl and state that when I was single I used to travel alot through work. I always picked up a box of matches from each hotel in case I got so drunk I couldn't remember where I was staying. I could always hail a cab and give them the box of matches. I then show some of the matches and give a few horror stories about each of the hotels. The spec then grabs a bunch of them, lets a load fall back into the bowl, and hey presto, they have the hotel that matches the room key on the table. If I can, I choose a male wearing a jacket and I slip the room key into their pocket ahead of time. I then make up a story about being robbed by someone matching the specs description.

It's a doddle to perform and I've been getting some really nice reactions. It packs relatively small. You could use it for closeup or strolling but I wouldn't want to. You don't end clean and not everything is examinable. As soon as the effect is over you really want to be taking your applause and sending the spec back to their seat.

I must add one negative though. All the match books are for hotels in the states so you'll have to make up a reason for being there. Holidaying? Fleeing from justice perhaps?? Whatever as long as they believe you!

Overall

I love it. Simplicity. Simplicity. Simplicity. All is simplicity sayeth the preacher.

Again, I'm bumping an old thread just to show off my new state of the art studio which Lucasfilm have built in my house. The professional raconteur and allround bounder Monty Kray presents 'It's a match':

This requires no skill whatsoever which I think is demonstrated quite nicely
