Just a quick update about ourselves

We run www.youmagictricks.com which is a place where magicians can submit their documented or videos of tricks. we do all the advertising and selling for you then at the end of each month you will receive your part of the payment.

we sell documents via PDF download or video via our own online secure streaming services. Along with a secure SSL connection and payment through paypal you can ensure everything has been made as safe and secure as possible for seller and the customers.

If you have any questions we welcome anything you have to say.

Thanks
YMT

How are you ensuring that the tricks released on your site aren't ripped off from other magicians products? Your site says that "Any such breaches of copyright are the sole responsibility of the person submitting material" This is what The Pirate Bay said, and the three founders of that got convicted of copyright offenses.

Why have advertising to other sites on a site where you are trying to sell products? That just takes away from the people submitting tricks and hoping to sell them.

Lastly "All of your own sold products are paid out in a 50/50 split after costs and tax have been deducted " This is plus £10 a year fee if you have more than 3 videos... Theory 11's THE WIRE gives 60% of the total sale price, and then then use their own 40% to cover their costs and bandwidth.

A user generated content marketplace is an ok idea, but the Terms and Conditions are a bit dodgy.
My advice for any magicians who have created an idea is to 'sit on it' and use it to impress your audiences. The magic community certainly doesn't need any half baked, reinvented ideas and if it's a great idea then likewise keep it for your audiences involvement. Magic isn't (or at least shouldn't be) for magicians!

Hello Ed

Thanks for your response and all positive or negative it greatly appreciated and is the only way we can look to improve the services provided.

We do not sell physical products so we are happy to advertise other sites that do. Tricks submitted by Magicians are still able to sell their ideas in the form of PDF or streaming media.

We invite people to submit their own ideas and should we find a copyright breach we will be more than happy to work with authorities to resolve the issue. It is difficult to copyright a magic trick as the slightest variation in the trick counts it as a different version. Take youtube for example the amount of people that do something but slightly different and manage to post it on there. We are nothing like pirate bay and will be working hard to make this as secure as possible. As there are so many tricks out there we encourage people to research it before submitting a trick, so it is the responsibility of the person submitting the trick to check it doesn't belong to anyone else.

The shares paid out vary from site to site and those are our conditions. The video fee helps cover the massive costs to stream the secure videos and help keep them safe from been copied.

I appreciate your view on sitting on your own ideas but we believe it is best to share your ideas and why not make some money out of it on the way. Youtube doesn't allow you to make money from each view but we do it per sale from the start.

Magic is for everyone and like any profession you learn from people within the same industry.

Regards
YMT
