Hello, TalkMagic people!

I'm Nathaniel Tapley. I'm a comedy writer-performer (I spend most of my time writing for things like The News Quiz (Radio 4) or Gigglebiz (CBeebies)) and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

Although magic was an interest of mine growing up, I hadn't had much contact with it until last year. I had a one-man show based around the idea of a seance, which was basically an excuse for a series of character monologues, but I had put a few effects that I devised into it (predicting an audience member's death with a haunted copy of Boggle because I'd lost my ouija board, etc.).

I'm putting together a close-up mentalism act at the moment, and enjoying the process hugely.

Anyway, it's nice to meet you all...

Yes, the haunted Boggle was slightly more demanding than I'd thought it would be. Mainly because there are very limited options as to what you can spell out with Boggle's cubes, and is readable in the grid layout. That together with securing the cubes when needed having previously shown the Boggle to be 'ungimmicked', and the awkwardness of handling it as a prop made me regret having had the idea shortly before performing it the first time...
