Great stuff. So what do we now? Is there a proper way to run a magic club?! I'll bring some cards and some money for beer. Beyond that, what else would we need?

No idea. Let's have a beer or two and talk about magic, and then work out "what happens next" when we're there.

If this was a magic club there would be some sort of agenda with either a lecturere or a members competition or something like that. This is just a meet up as I see it. I will bring some stuff with me and we can (to use a musical term) "jam" and have a chat. It would be good if this was the start of a club but I think we have a way to go before we get there.

Just my two-pennorth but, whilst formalities and suchlike are useful, I reckon the time should be spent on Magic and magic related stuff rather than agendas, apologies for absence and AOB etc. Have a beer or two, enjoy the magic!

Guys, sorry but I am going to have to duck out of Wednesday, I have drawn the short straw for shift cover at work and won't be out of work until 10.30.

Hello all
See you all tonight hopefully. I did intend to advertise this more widely on daily info etc but ran out of time.

Aye! I'm just wrapping up at work (in the city centre) right now, then I'm going to get over to the Royal Standard and have myself some dinner and a drink. I'll try to make myself easy to spot - I'll be the chap with the long hair, wearing the purple shirt, shuffling a deck of Bicycles!

Well there you go. The Oxford Magic club officially began last night! Let it be noted that on the 30th day of April 2014, a small group (3!) of dedicated, enthused magicians met at the Royal Britannia and thus started what, um, might become something long running!

We had a good time - showing and sharing tricks.

We're gonna do it again. Penultimate Tuesday of every month. Venue? Well, we didn't suggest a new one last night, so I'm gonna say let's go back to the Royal Britannia. Although longer term we might think of somewhere different.

In Oxford? Like Magic? Then join us!

Seconded! A great night was had by all - despite the fact that none of us had a clue what a magic club "should" be, we had some great conversation and magical fun.

I'm going to assume you meant to say "back to the Royal Standard", which was where we were, rather than the Britannia, which is several doors down!

I spent this morning practicing a couple of the routines that TheGroover performed, and then this lunchtime performed a couple for some co-workers and for the staff at the cafe down the street: great reaction! Thanks for sharing!

Just a reminder about our next upcoming gathering next week, as agreed last month:

Tuesday 20th May 2014, 7:15pm onwards
Royal Standard, London Road, Headington, Oxford [map]

As before, I'll try to get there early and make myself obvious by throwing cards or ropes all over the place, in case anybody new wants to join us. Hope to see you there!
