It'll be like a deleted scene from a Harry Potter movie!

Speaking of Harry Potter.....sorry i do feel the need to just put this in here
This was about a year ago, Rupert Grint came along to a local music festival that I help organize as he lives near by (where i am now, not Oxford) and his sister was playing in the festival
but yea, I was very lucky and managed to get a video with him of me doing my old sponge ball routine (it's improved a lot since then)
sorry for the sound quality though, as i said this was at a music festival

Sorry; I should have plugged a date for this. We usually meet on the penultimate Tuesday of the month (although I couldn't make it last month) and from the sound of things we're happy to try the Victoria Arms this month (which pleases me, because it's one of my favourite pubs in Oxford... plus it saves me from cycling up a hill). So, can I propose:

Tuesday 23rd September 2014, 7:15pm onwards
Victoria Arms, London Road, Headington, Oxford [map]

The Vicky Arms is easily accessible by car and has a large car park (come off the ring road at the Marsh Lane junction, towards the hospitals, then drive through Old Marston), by foot or bike (a little bit of a hike, but nothing terrible unless you're planning on bringing a Chinese Water Torture Cell), or by bus (take a 14A to St. Nicholas' Church, Marston Village, and then walk from there).

Slound good? I'll try harder to make it, this month!

Hopefully I'll be able to make it, that week is freshers week so I'll have to see what's going on that night and if I'll be free....from what I've seen of the plans I should be free and look forward to meeting all of you guys.
I'll be easy to spot when I get there, I wear a top hat made from playing cards and so I'll bring it along to show it off.

Open to suggestions for the venue!

I'll be coming straight from work this week, unfortunately, so I'll only be carrying as many props as I can bear to take to the office and back again by bicycle, but I'll be there!

I'm still hoping to be there.

I like the book binders in jehrico, been a while since I've been.

Have fun tonight. For new venues - being an out-of-towner it needs to be somewhere i can park nearby.

Bookbinders is something of a challenge (despite being a truly lovely pub!)

How about Lamb & Flag/Eagle and Child? Royal Oak?

I'm in the Victoria Arms; have bagged us a table all the way at the back - I'll put some ropes and cards out so it's obviously "ours". See you later!

RobPotts and I had a couple of drinks on Tuesday 23rd September 2014, and shared our recent magical experiments. Rob has been studying Max Maven lately, and showed off a few card tricks and something he'd been doing with poker chips, as well as a simple-but-ingenous gimmick that makes disappearing and appearing a stack of coins easy. Meanwhile, I demonstrated the features of the DAO stack and showed off the latest thing I've been doing with flashpaper (burning holes in playing cards!), and reverse-engineered the mathematical principles of a couple of mathematical deck-shuffling tricks.

We were hoping to see some of Oxford's newest magi, but didn't spot any. Later, we talked about moving the venue in accordance with TheGroover's suggestion - to which end:

How do people feel if next month (Tuesday 21st October 2014) we meet at the Lamb & Flag, St. Giles? It's somewhat more-central, which might make getting there by car a little tougher, but it'll be (a) easier for those of us who rely on bikes and/or public transport and also (b) might help to circumvent TheGroover's issue with Greene King pubs.

Thanks for a fun night, Rob!
