Thank you! Checking the programme listings, it's also on Discovery ch520 at 8 and 8.30pm - same episodes - and they're on again on 521 an hour later.

Strange the way the same two programmes are on two channels at the same time!

A war against themselves... even stranger!

There's another magic show in the US, this time on the Travel Channel but not yet in the UK. The details I had are:

make plans to watch MAGIC OUTLAWS on the Travel Channel on the 10th March at 9PM. They will feature two thirty minute shows, and viewership will likely determine whether there will be an order for future shows. (three magicians travel about, attempting to out-perform one another at various stops.. including Las Vegas.)

Perhaps we should lobby the UK offices and strongly insist they broadcast the shows here!

Did any of you watch this then? I did, I liked it. It wasn't ground breaking magic but it was fun to watch.

Fascinating stuff, even if it does expose one or two secrets which are used by professionals in their acts. The bungee jump using a rope connected only by two interleaved books was recently examined and performed by the guys on Mythbusters and they ended up using two military tanks before the books tore apart so Wayne was on very safe ground - apart from diving off a ruddy great crane and plummeting towards said safe ground!

Some of the effects seem a bit obvious and, as in the case of the self igniting newspaper, the chemicals used would be difficulty to source and certainly would raise a few eyebrows - as well as probably burn those same eyebrows off if they got too near. To a certain extent it destroys the mystery of magic by explaining the science behind it all but it also shows how natural processes can, and should, be cloaked in presentation and bafflement to entertain.

All in all, very watchable!

They don't expose many modern methods, Mainly its the impractical ones! Like the mind reading using polarizing filters. Makes it quite entertaining though as the method used is usually more interesting than the trick.
