Passport Replacement

Postby I.D » May 10th, '13, 11:32

How much of a twazzark can one be??

I am really anal about things like, holidays, passports, I'D's etc. So much so that when we go away on holiday, i will keep all the I.D together, check them every 2 mins so they are all there. tap my pockets every 20 seconds and keep them zipped away to deter/protect from theft.. and I dont sleep AT ALL the night before a holiday to ensure we dont oversleep.

So what do I do 7 weeks before we fly away this year!! Take my passport to a recruiment agency to apply for a role as I am currently in consultation along with 150 people being made redundant.. and I somehow lose my passport!!

Now I have a headache in trying to get a replacment at the time of yeear when just about everyone is trying to get their passports sorted out!!

Im stuck for time, its not going to be cheap.. and i could really do without this stress!

I think you can apply in person, can't you?

Dunno if things are still the same but the Passport Offices in Peterborough used to be able to issue passports to callers in person. It used to take several hours of hanging around waiting but usually all was sorted same day.

i spent the weekend trashing the house looking for it. you have to have an appointment for a lost passport but they wont sort it the same day it takes as long as it takes unless you pay over the odds for the priority week service.

anyway, tore my house apart, was about to put my family on death row.. then found it in the most obious place... in the middle of the bookshelf staring back at me!!

it was one of those tail between the legs moments as i removed the rope binds from my family's arms and bashfully handed out the sudocream for the rope burns.. as I removed the mouth gags I was prepared for the backlash... i had my sorry's ready..

All sorted..

Glad to hear it's sorted, the family will never let you forget this event of course!

Now the kicker, I knew my passport was due for renewal this year as I first obtained one for a jaunt to the US in July 1993 and it's been renewed once since then so your post prompted me to go sort out my passport and renew well before it expires. I found it this morning and it expired last month - duh!!!

My wife used hers as ID to get a parcel from the post office recently and now has no idea where she put it. Looks like house demolition time for us now.

Its a good job you found your existing passport. I have been trying to get mine renewed but am finding it very hard to find any responsible person who has known me for long enough who is prepared to countersign the form. This is because the new criteria is that the countersignatory has to provide their passport number on your form. Alot of people won't do that as it has resulted in crooks then applying for fraudualent passports in their name with their details.

I lost mine 3 weeks before our honeymoon. I managed to beg, plead and pay alot of money for a replacement only to then find my old passport tucked in a boot (which is my usual 'keep it safe place' when I'm on holiday).

wow guys.. glad im not in it alone...

Mandrake.. glad my post helped jog your memory, even if a little too late.

VE Day.. unfortunate.. maybe you could call them and ask for advice as no one you know is prepared to sign the form.. or would that make them unneccessarily suspicious? there has to be someone surely...

Lady of Mystery, ouchy.. that is what I was expecting to happen, to fork out £103 plus £70 travel expenses only to find it somewhere 'safe'... luckily i found mine before that happened.

Johnny Wiz.. guarantee it will be somewhere SO obvious.. always is
