Scotch and Soda

Postby SlipperyPenguin » Mar 24th, '05, 12:51

Just a quick question..

(I know I should have this by now.. sorry)

Is there an English version available for Scotch and Soda and if so, where can I get it ? If not, what is the best version to get ?

And secondly.. is the "Amazing Magic Tricks with a Scotch & Soda DVD" worth getting.

Thanks

Slippery

The more common version of Scotch and Soda these days is called Coin Unique (by Eddie Gibson), and it comes in a £1 and 1p version (the most common), and I believe a 10p and 2p version. I think there is also a version with a £2 coin. and another version that uses euro's

Do a search for "Coin Unique". It has been discussed a lot.

As for the DVD - thats up to you. It is cheap, and it does cover various effects that you could use with both S&S and CU

if you have the budget i highly recommend the miracle coin unique (£2.00 - 2p) version. Not cheap at £38 but i use this in my professional act and it is stunning

I've heard that the Eddie Gibson 10p / 2p version of coin unique was discontinued due to some problems with it so I would beware. Hopefully someone can vouch for this.

I have the £1 / 1p version and the nest of coins (both Eddie Gibson) and the quality is very good. Much better than some others that I've seen around recently.

When I worked at a dealer the Eddie Gibson coin tricks were always the best quality available, I don't think anyone else really comes close in the UK.

I never saw any problems with the 2p/10p version, I would have gone for this one or the £2/2p since they are larger, allowing for easier handling and more visibility.

Just a quick thank you..

I've now bought the £1/1p Coin unique ( from magictricks.co.uk) for table top stuff and the £2/2p version (from alakazam.co.uk) for in the hand effects.

I've found that the £2/2p one is far more reliable in the hand (especially when using the sepctators hand) than the £1 version and with both versions I can switch and change when asked to do it again making llok like I'm just using normal random change.

All in all I'm really pleased with the responses I'm getting. Definately worth the (very expensive) price from my point of view.

Yes the £2 - 2p is really good isn't it. Now you do coin under watch if you wish.

I'll have to get the £2/2p version.

I recently bought the Eddie Gibson next of coins (locking) and again, the quality is outstanding. I was able to see it side by side with a Tenko magic version and the colouration on the latter seemed way out. The feel was also suspect yet there wasn't that much difference in the price.

I am sure dealers still sell them. You could try from eddie gibson direct http://www.eddiegibsonmagic.com/ or email him and ask if the coin is still being made. I know he is now selling euro coin unique too.
